I’ve known Richard Johnson for seemingly forever.
Yet I never thought he’d leave NYC or even the New York Post despite many lucrative job offers over the years. And several scandals under his watch… But the paper announced today he’s exiting the editorship after nearly 25 years and “moving to Hollywood to work on new digital ventures for News Corp, the parent company of The Post“. (Presumably, this is something News Corp’s Digital Media CEO Jon Miller is incubating.) Surprising, since newsosaur Richard is as old media as they come. “I love Page Six and The Post, but I’ve always wanted to give Los Angeles a try,” he said. Here’s my first piece of advice: learn the difference between Hollywood and LA because they’re not interchangeable. Taking over as the new Page Six editor is Emily Smith.

Wow! This is great for Richard. He has been a pleasure to work with throughout the years and I a confident his new venture will be just as fabulous as Page Six. He is a legend in the newspaper world and it does feel like he has been there forever.
Good luck to Richard. I’m grateful for the coverage he gave one of my projects a few years back in his column.
Haha – there IS a big difference between LA and Hollywood. But Richard is fairly astute – he’s likely to pick up the lay of the land out here
Best of British luck, wherever you go, Richard. I was in, I was out, I begged not to be in but usually was, for all the wrong reasons but I learned a lot, don’t do something if you don’t want to see it on Page 6 one day. Success follow you my friend.
