A big new addition to Grey’s Anatomy – Scott Foley has joined the hit ABC medical drama in a major recurring role. He will play a patient and potential love interest for Kim Raver’s Iraqi veteran Dr. Teddy Altman. Introducing actors as recurring has been Grey’s creator Shonda Rhimes’ preferred way of adding new regulars to the show. Raver, Eric Dane, Kevin McKidd, Jessica Capshaw, Chyler Leigh, Sara Ramirez, Sarah Drew and Jessie Williams all started off as recurring before being bumped up to regulars. In Foley’s case, it would be trickier as his character is a patient. Foley, repped by Paradigm and Brillstein Entertainment, is a familiar face on ABC: he recurred on Cougar Town last season. He also has medical series background: he had a role on the NBC/ABC medical comedy Scrubs. Foley’s series credits also include CBS’ military drama The Unit and the WB’s college dramedy Felicity.

Good for him! I’m happy to see anyone from Felicity doing well.
Totally hit the mark with adding Foley to the cast ~ As I watched the last episode – I was wondering how they can add some new ‘familiar’ faces to keep the audience engaged and further intrigued! Scott will meet that demand ! KUDOS to the writers and casting directors.
He and Kim Raver will make an awesome couple on GREYS. Cant wait!
Agreed. That will be one sexy couple.
Maybe he’ll ‘stick around’ the same way Denny did oh, so long ago…….
Very cool, love Scott Foley.
Having said that… the last thing GREY’S needs is more characters. That doesn’t solve the problems this show seems to have this season. How about doing more character development instead? So far, Jesse Williams is wasted. Kim Raver is wasted.
Am I imagining something, or is the “Carter-Madison Grant” in Africa an inside-joke nod to ER’s Dr. John Carter”?
I wondered that myself. It seems to fit- the Carter family known for their Foundations, John’s dedication to mediacl work in Africa. I just can’t make the Madison connection though.
I agree A.M. Jesse Williams is really fun to watch, and some real wrenching emotion from him in that documentary ep. Definite movie star in the making. Saw him shirtless in that episode and immediately thought action star. All around the actors are extremely talented, just want to see the pace and conflict pick up. There’s such a thing as too many characters Shonda. Develop the one’s you got.
