EXCLUSIVE: Terry George has signed on for rewrite duty on Safe House, the Daniel Espinosa-directed Universal drama that goes into production early next year. Ryan Reynolds plays a young CIA agent who must transport a dangerous criminal — Denzel Washington — to safety after they are attacked at a safe house. David Guggenheim wrote the original script and Scott Stuber’s producing. WME-repped George takes the job just as he is also directing the first two new episodes of HBO’s Luck, the David Milch-created horse racing series that stars Dustin Hoffman and Nick Nolte. Michael Mann directed the pilot and is exec producing with Milch.

Drama??????
i dont think so.i read the script and its more like action adventure movie, there is hardly any drama.and bringing this guy who is pretty terrible writer is confusing since the script i read is very good, and its the script that drowed all this talent so far.
Great news. George will rewrite the hell out of this hot mess of a script. Be sure to watch 16 BLOCKS and not make a carbon copy of that film like Gooberheim did.
George seems like a good fit for the material. I’m sure part of his job is to make it feel a little less like a rehashing of “16 Blocks.”
And the script is more action-thriller than action-adventure. Definitely not drama.
Wow SWEET, did Guggenheim kick your dog or bang your sister? The guy wrote a great spec no reason to trash someone you don’t know. Have some respect, there’s enough room for everyone to succeed. Maybe you should spend less time being a dick and more time working on your writing..
It does sound like something I liked better when it was called 16 Blocks and I liked even better when it was called The Gauntlet.
It must be nice to know how the movie is going to turn out. I love how everybody is a critic. Everybody has read the script and knows exactly what should be done to make it work; as if you have written or directed or cast anything and if you had, you certainly would not be posting on Deadline Hollywood. If you actually have read the script be open minded enough to wait until the movie comes out. How can you ever enjoy it? If you have your own ideas about how to make them!! Maybe you guys should change careers.
You think people who work in the industry actually enjoy movies or tv? It’s the equivalent of an insurance agent taking policies home to read in his free time.
Oh shi! A director pix without headphones around his neck.
Actually, it’s usually the writer/directors who didn’t make it on talent but more on who they know that take pix with headphones around neck that say “I director.”
Thank you.
The “I’m a director” baseball cap is even more annoying than the headphones. I like this Terry George guy.
You guys are both correct! Down with no talent, ass kissers getting lucrative gigs they don’t deserve! George is not one of them!
