Would this still hold true after Comcast’s Burke Regime takes over? Just asking…
Looks like Universal is finally coming out of their slump. Except for Ouija, I’m interested in every one of those projects.
i bet you can’t wait for battleship
What ever happened to DRACULA YEAR ZERO? It has been in “development” over there forever! Does anyone know current status?
I sure hope they get their asses in gear on DYZ too! Love that project!
Uni killed this. Too expensive, too dark. Proyas is a bad ass and this movie would have been awesome. Instead you get 47 Ronin, an expensive comedy from Judd and an expensive movie with Julia. Sounds like more of the same if you ask me…and look how Uni has done of late…
Where’s the link to suggest that uni cancelled it? Last I was reading, the movie was all but a definite go.
Ron Howard directing The Dark Tower? It already sucks.
What a disappointment.
Excuse me, sir. Do you know any movies Ron Howard has done…? If not, dont speak so lowly of him. I wont bore you with a list but will mention that he directed Willow in the 1980′s, which is a mythical fantasy movie, a la “Lord of the Rings”, which is along the same lines as The Dark Tower, and its a fun movie. Also, I wont mention how Ron Howard has won an Oscar as a director, but I’m sure you knew that…
He’s a great director, and if you read about the vision he has for the series…you will see that he has some really exciting ideas for the epic. I for one am excited and cannot wait to see Javier Bardem as Roland. It’s going to be amazing.
No date for BATTLESHIT? I guess if I had a $200m Rhianna movie I would hide it too!
Battleship is Liam Neeson star vehicle.Just because someone is in a movie doesn’t make it their movie.By your same faulted logic, Battleship come easily be Brooklyn Decker’s movie.
*faulty logic*
Rihanna was paid much more than Brooklyn Decker, and it is her feature debut, so the previous poster is in fact correct.
Looking at that list, ambitious is not a word that comes to mind. Ouija? Safe House? Right.
Agreed. Could this list be any more snooze-inducing? I’ll give Tony Gilroy some latitude on the Bourne film and maybe Hanks and Roberts might do something interesting but the rest? Oy.
What about Midnight Run Sequel?
47 ronin could be amazing…please make it good!
Anyone that is doubting 47 Ronin needs to watch Carl Rinsch’s short film THE GIFT . . look for it on YouTube!!
only one missing are at the mountain od madness and r.i.p.d.
rest of this movies are great, and i am looking forwaard to all of them.i am glad universal is getting back on their feet in a big way.
so did fast five change their date then? it was june 10th before
Untitled Apatow? Yawn. He was so 2005.
Does having a release date for SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN, as well as a director and two stars, kill the other two SNOW WHITE movies? Seems like Universal is out in front on that one.
47 Ronin will be bad. Why? Hollywood’s lack of understanding culture. There were no half-breed or foreign Samurai, in fact the story takes place during Japan’s self imposed isolation. I lived in Japan when ‘Last Samurai’ was released and my Japanese friends laughed at the absurdity of a ‘gaijin’ being a Samurai. Only in Hollywood.
True, but it still made lots of $$$. Haven’t seen it myself but at least it launched Ken Watanabe internationally. I was pleasantly surprised that he had such a big role in Inception. There’s always a silver lining somewhere…
When will EMILY THE STRANGE be out?
Tyvm for the useful information! I would never have gotten this otherwise!
