VH1′s original movie Single Ladies, executive produced by Queen Latifah, will spawn the music/reality channel’s first hourlong scripted series. Stacey Dash, LisaRaye McCoy, Charity Shea, and DB Woodside starred in the movie, which was shot in the summer. Production on the eight-episode series will start at the end of this year, with the movie and the series both premiering in July 2011. Queen Latifah is set to guest star on the show. Single Ladies, written by Stacy Littlejohn and directed by Tamra Davis, is a relationship comedic drama set in the world of Atlanta fashion, music, and celebrity.

Sistas, who needs “Cleopatra” when you’ve got “Single Ladies”? But here’s hoping it isn’t just a scripted version of “Real Housewives of Atlanta.” On the plus side we missed Stacey Dash, a real goddess.
Yes! All hail Stacy Dash!
Great news!
About damn time there was a tv show that actually employs black women. Based on the daytime soap operas and currently on-air scripted TV shows, one would think black women didn’t even exist in America.
Horrible show/movie…it displays desperate black women who are too aggressive and divisive with their own black men. Why is the white woman the only “single ladie” who is married?? Most of the black men portrayed are broke and looking for a handout. This is becoming sad and all these images in the media, entertainment and our society is why black people have all of the problems we have.
I wanted to like this. I really wanted to like this. Maybe if the writing improves and the characters become a bit better developed… let’s keep our fingers crossed.
I love Queen Latifah, but this show “Single Ladies” is garbage. The acting is HORRIBLE, the scripts are bad, the chemistry seems off and the characters aren’t believable. This has nothing to do with Stacey Dash leaving the show, because it wasn’t much better when she was there; however, she did seem more comfortable in front of the camera that the other cast members do. I find it difficult to watch LisaRaye and Denise struggle to deliver their lines, so I’ve just decided to tune out all together.
