EXCLUSIVE: The CW have found their Danni Lowinski. Sons & Daughters alumna Amanda Walsh has landed the lead in the hourlong CW dramedy pilot based on the German series of the same name. The pilot, once eyed for possible midseason consideration, is now targeted for next fall. The CW has no scripted series on tap for midseason and recently opted not order back episodes from sophomore Life Unexpected. Danni Lowinski is named after the series’ central character: a scrappy hairdresser (Walsh) who has worked her way through law school and finally graduates only to be brushed off by law firms that aren’t interested in her type. Determined to make her way in the professional world, she sets up her own practice in a shopping mall kiosk. The German series, which airs on Sat.1, stars popular German comedy actress Annette Frier in the title role. Richard Shepard will be directing the CW pilot from a script by Jennie Snyder Urman (90210). CBS TV Studios is producing. This actually is not the first pilot in which Walsh plays the female lead. She starred opposite Johnny Galecki and Jim Parsons in the original pilot for The Big Bang Theory, which never aired, playing a character that was later reconceived. Walsh, repped by ICM and 3 Arts, most recently co-starred in the ABC Family movie Beauty & the Briefcase.

I wonder how long this show will last on The CW my guess is not long. Anyway, what changed because it was supposed to air mid-season? Are they try to air Secret Circle for mid-season then or some other series?
Ugh. She’s awful. So many great girls to pick from and they go with her?
Actually, she is a very talented actress with a good sense of humor. She had the sad duty of playing a bad character in the Chuck Lorre pilot. They rewrote the script, threw out her character and came up with Penny and the show was a hit. Not her fault at all.
More jaw, less nose Amanda!!!
You are stupid. Get a life.
Where have I heard that idea before…
Hmm.
The clock is ticking for The CW. The network will most likely fold if it doesn’t have any break-out shows next season. The network already averages less viewers than its superior predecessor, The WB.
Industry insiders are whispering that Dawn’s days at The CW are numbered. Her first mistake was not to pick up Everwood, when she instead picked up the already wrapped 7th Heaven, which only lasted one horrid season on the new network.
The CW needs new management, and quick. The WB should never have folded into this mess, it took years but The WB had finally made a name for itself, it had class.
The CW is a disgrace, and a disappointment for Warner Bros.
Why wasn’t she fired like 4 seasons ago, that’s my question.
Fired from what? This is a pilot dumb-dumb.
I vaguely remember her from ‘Sons & Daughters’ but i think she could carry the show.
I agree with u wga. Walsh is super talented with a great team behind her.
She was also in The Remnants:

CW, I hope you’re reading this…please take it seriously. For whatever reason, I’m very good at spotting casting mistakes–and you (CW) are famous for making them. THIS choice will not fly with viewers, you can take it to the bank.
For someone with title credits (Danni, herself), the character/actress absolutely MUST be someone the fickle U.S. viewer wants to spend time with each week. What in the world makes you believe Amanda is such a person? Not only is there no “It” charisma, she’s also a bit “odd” looking (check some other photos).
This is a sure-fire failure, unless someone comes to their senses. Trust me, guys, I’m rarely wrong on these issues.
P.S. Get a focus group together, and see if I’m not speaking the truth. Don’t waste money until you’ve done your due diligence in research. Too much is at stake here, guys.
Dear Jason…
No matter what you say to the CW, you’re sister will not be getting the role.
Cheers,
Fans of This Casting Choice
Chris, you think she’s awful?
in what, exactly?
or much more likely you rep the girl who DIDN’T get the part and you’re all sour grapes?
I think I’ve seen every project she’s done. She’s so boring, bland. There’s nothing there.
Wow, she’s definitely come a long way since Much Music. I remember when she first started as a VJ…
Can someone tell me: What is The CW’s attraction to all of these Canadian actors/actresses? Are there no Americans worth casting anymore? For the most part, Canada’s stars are unknown down here (is that what you’re looking for?), and I’d wager more shows with Canadian stars BOMB in the U.S. than make it. Am I right?
Hey, Hollywood…you do realize there’s a job shortage here in the States, don’t you? You all wanted O-blama. Is his plan to leave the country and give work to foreigners? Just wondering.
You should also wonder why you’re an idiot. What does Obama have to do with this article?
She’s going to awesome! She was fantastic on sons & daughters. Very excited to see her carry a show.
Sorry Jason but Les feels differently.
Moonves is behind this? The guy who cancelled Moonlight and Ghost Whisperer for lower-rated filler shows? Oh, well, then…go right ahead. Les knows best, right? He’s so in touch with the young demo of the CW. Actually called them a “bullshit demo,” to quote him exactly. Well, Les, that term can also be used to describe this casting move. I guess if ol’ Les is calling the shots at CW, he can be held equally as responsible as his lacky, Dawn, for various shows failing, right? Here we’ve all been blaming Ostroff, when Moonves himself–a 65-year-old egomaniac–is trying to program for a teen girl network.
As Jim Rome would say: “…’credible.”
