Erica Hill’s star is rising fast at CBS. In an overhaul of the anchor team at The Early Show, which has been trailing the morning program competition, co-anchors Harry Smith and Maggie Rodriguez and weather anchor Dave Price are out. Hill, who joined The Early Show 10 months ago as news anchor of the weekday program and co-anchor of the weekend edition with Chris Wragge, will now co-anchor the weekday Early Show along with Wragge. Marysol Castro, formerly of ABC’s Good Morning America weekend edition, has been tapped as the new weather anchor, while Jeff Glor will serve as news anchor. The changes will go in effect on Jan. 3. “The Early Show is an important element of CBS News,” CBS News and Sports president McManus said. “We constantly focus on how to improve the broadcast, and we think we have a terrific combination in Erica, Chris, Jeff and Marysol.” According to CBS News’ release, Smith and Price, who had been anchoring The Early Show since 2002, and Rodriguez, who replaced Hannah Storm in 2008, will stay with CBS News in a different capacities.

I am very dissappointed to learn of the shake up on the Early Show. Dave Price and Harry Smith
are the reasons I warched the show.

Its tough enough to lose favorite people, and without Dave and Harry, I doubt I can enjoy the program. You have made an error in judgement in my opinion. I am also disgusted. I faithfully tuned into Erarly just to watch Harry and Dave. I can’t believe CBS would let them go. Now I keep my TV off until Regis and Kellyt come on. Huge mistake CBS
I too am irritated the 3 are leaving. I now have to find a new news channel to watch in the morning. I am not crazy about ABC OR NBC but I will not be watching CBS. I did not care that much for Maggie but loved Dave Price and Harry Smith. Guess it will be kids shows for my morning tv. I will be missing out on the local news and really will miss the weather reports. But, mess with my normal routine and I am forced to go elsewhere.

I think it is really sad you are letting Harry, Dave and Maggie go, they are just wonderful. I will not be watching CBS morning anymore, I have watched Harry forever, and Dave, he is just wonderful, and his trips he does, and all of the coats he has collected were just wonderful. He is just funny! We all need a laugh in the morning!

I agree with all of the postings that I have been reading. CBS must be crazy to get rid of Harry and Dave. I really did not care for Maggie, so it’s alright that she is gone. I will not watch the Early show anymore, period.
I was shocked when I found out that the hosts of the Early Show were changing!! Harry and Dave were the reason I watched the show faithfully each and every morning. They were a part of my daily routine. I guess that will be changing. I am not waiting until the 2nd..I switched my morning TV viewing to the “Today” show as of this morning!
CBS use to be the only station I watched but lately, the decisions of the network are disappointing to me. Example. The TALK..what were they thinking? So long CBS.
It took awhile for Harry to grow on me..now that he has, I’ll miss his warmth. Also enjoyed Dave’s sunny switched on personality..too bad. Maggie always seemed somewhat out of place; but good luck to her. Also good luck to the new crew. They are very watchable.

To much Erica Hill in the past year, everytime I turned on CBS there she was…not a fan…..left Good Morning America after the shakeup there hate to do it again

Smith & M-Rod I’m sure will be just fine, but Dave Price is a shocker to me. I’ve been watching him ever since he was doing Weather for the NY Fox Affiliate. All the best, Dave!
This just goes to show that the concept of having a “powerful lead-in” is overrated. CBS has got the highest-rated prime time lineup and David Letterman. But when people wake up in the AM, >>click<< it's over to Today or GMA.
Dave Price will go back to local news and poor Harry keeps on getting replaced only to be brought back again.
Dave Price is the best weatherman and special interst broadcaster. Harry has set the standard and I’m glad to see he is finally getting his just rewards, nice man, syrupy, some good women have lost their jobs and CBS kept Harry time for him to go.
After decades as #3 in the morning time period, when will CBS learn that it takes more than another round of host musical chairs to become a player? Instead of continually hiring and firing, CBS needs to commit the time and creativity necessary to come up with a dramatically new concept, format and approach for its 7-9am block that will make it competitive with GMA and Today. Otherwise, CBS should just turn the time period back to the stations to run syndicated shows or more inane infomercial programming.
CBS should just cancel the morning news program altogether. Nobody watches this as viewers are either tuned to Today or GMA. CBS has been trying to make their morning show a success for decades, periodically shaking up the talent. No matter what they try, it always falls behind Today and GMA.
They really should try something radically different, than just more of the same old, same old that is the competition.
My guess? This sets the stage for Harry Smith to take over Katie Couric’s job when her contract is up.
Smith is a traditional talking head, solid and probably a lot less expensive than Couric. In addition, he probably would maintain or increase her audience, which makes it a win-win.

Will be boring and stiff after Harry, Maggie and Dave leave.
We will be changing our morning network for sure after this trio leaves! The Early Show will certainly have regrets on this move!!

I agree, he is an idiot..I have no idea what these people were thinking..poor judgement on CBS’s part..I don’t watch anymore either mainly because of him.

I have always looked forward to watching Harry, Maggie, and Dave every
morning. It saddens me to see them go; I might have to switch the channel. They will be missed!

I am saddened by this stupid move, Maggie was the best one they had and I loved watching Dave Price. One problem they have is way toooooo many commercials. They always finish at 10 til the hour when the others are done at 5 til the hour. I will not watch the new show, and will tell all my friends to change the channel too. Such a shame that every one thinks you need to go younger!!!! I really hope that Maggie finds something that will showcase what a great talent she is. Good Luck Mags you were too good for them.
Erica Hill is sexy and smart. I used to love her banter with Anderson Cooper. Perfect time for CBS to get in the morning game. The Today Show and Good Morning America are getting a little long in the tooth.
