A good campaign that so many in hollywood are taking part in..
I love the heartfelt one from the bully football player on GLEE
Yes, but if you’re Asian or whatever else, we’ll still put on programming that specifically makes fun of your group, which effectively sanctions such behavior in schools.
But hey, it’s cool right now to rally behind gays and lesbians, except for Ron Howard.
Beautiful.
This video is awesome
It is awesome
That was amazing. It means a lot to me that Pixar did this, because they’re so influential to kids.
Nice video but… With all this Glee stuff, etc. gay role models and stuff. Why can’t they ever show gay people that act like “regular guys” (which in itself I know is a stereotype) but why is it always stereotypical gay? It would be nice for gay people that don’t fit gay media engineered stereotypes that there are more people out there like them.
I imagine that many people in that particular category might not be comfortable broadcasting on the Internet, for a variety of reasons. Ironically, there can be bias WITHIN the gay community when you don’t fit those stereotypes. It’s not all roses and sunshine from that angle. I think this campaign is great for kids. However, I hope that they do NOT bank on having a built-in support group for the rest of their lives. For a reality check, sample some of the postings at The Advocate web site.
it would be pretty nice if pixar were to include an openly gay character in one of their movies.
I agree! But does Disney have to approve?
Have any of their films ever had an openly sexual relationship of any type?
I heart pixar!
that animation is so lifelike
I don’t get the “Are you listening, Hollywood?”
If it wasn’t for Hollywood, LGBT’s would still be in the closet. They’re the backbone of the movement.
True!
This may be my favourite film of the year, and right up there with Pixar’s finest work. How surprising, life-enhancing and inspiring. It should be watched in all schools. Thank you, from a heterosexual football player father of three children – to whom I will be showing this and asking them to go as viral as possible.
One of Pixar’s best
This is why I LOVE Pixar, it’s all about love. Sorry for being redundant
Thank you!
That was great. Really nice to see that.
Leave it to Pixar to completely upstage Obama. This and Ellen’s are easily the best of the bunch.
at the 2:30 mark…
This was one of the most moving things I’ve ever seen.
From a straight guy, to my gay and lesbian brothers and sisters – be brave, be proud, perservere – and take care.
With love – B
I’m sorry. I hate to being the voice of “WTF” here, but…”WTF”!??!
Look. There’s nothing wrong with being “gay”. But, let’s get this in perspective.
What you do behind your bedroom door, is precisely that. Human beings should interact on a societal level equally, on every other level OTHER than sex.
If men and women want to exercise male-female (or, as it’s called “nature”) pro-activity, fine. If men or women want to exercise same-sex relationships, also fine. Bisexual, great.
But, you know what?
PEOPLE. This is about SEX! Are YOU defined by what you want to do with your “bits”, behind doors? In any or either gender or preference? This is madness! You should be defined by how you personally relate to people, or what you achieve with your life that stands testament to you after you’re dead and gone.
People, societally, are about PEOPLE. They’re about ideas. And invention. And when you apply sex or gender, whatever their preference, it gets complicated and stupid.
I applaud gender tolerance. But, positing this as such is almost Gay Propaganda. I hate to break this to you lovely folks out there, but — despite scientific breakthroughs to the opposite — the animal kingdom, with some interesting variances scattered about — generally naturally espouses twin gender procreation, because that’s the way of the universe. Currently.
Sex is about procreation. For human beings. Everything else is for jollies. And that’s perfectly fine. But please let’s not get outside our box and espouse that something that is a lifestyle choice for fun is evolutionary.
Sorry. This Pixar message sucks, is mistimed, and ruins my outlook in the company.
For the last time, BEING GAY IS NOT A LIFESTYLE CHOICE. When did you wake up and think ‘I’m going to be straight today’? You didn’t, you just are. Now can we please stop this b******t presumption.
Ruins your outlook on the company? That’s because you’re a bigot.
It’s not about sex. It’s not a lifestyle choice for fun, or else I would not have been gay bashed. It’s about sexual orientation and discrimination. You can’t say it’s something to keep to yourself, when everyone falls in love. Homophobia is “the last socially acceptable prejudice.” Hollywood has no room for bigots like you.
FJ demonstrating Hollywood’s famed inclusive tolerance…too funny
Nobody should be tolerant of racism, sexism, anti-semitism, or homophobia.
Mistimed? How many kids have killed themselves since September? Do you live under a rock or just hate children?
It’s not about sex. It’s about love. And what it’s not about is persecuting people for who they are, who the love, or even who they sleep with.
Don’t be evil.
Interesting that on one hand you are claiming “it’s just sex” and it shouldn’t define you, and on the other hand, the whole issue is such a big deal for you that it changes your outlook on the company. People like you are the reason it’s good Pixar made a video like this.
I understand your point of view and share it to a degree. I work in Hollywood and keep my views to myself because of people like Perez Hilton who can not handle hearing other points of view.
Oh, I suppose that in the moment, it makes these cretins feel powerful to put themselves above other people, especially these brilliant, courageous artists who are reaching out to help others.
But Balance to the Force, maybe next time before you hit the “submit your comment” button, stop and ask yourself, “Wait a second. Is it possible that I’m being a complete and utter asshole?” Other rational, reasonable people do this kind of self-inventory all the time. It’s something you should try out.
By the way, I’m straight. I am gay for Pixar, though.
It’s not about sex. You don’t get it. It’s to help kids, you moron! Kids that want to take their lives because they don’t know how to cope or where to turn.
Are your knuckles raw from dragging them on the ground? Just go back to your living room and keep watching TLC and QVC.
Someone tell me that this is a post from Comedy Central? It must be a joke… How could ANYONE whether or not they agree or disagree with the message find something negative to say about such a beautiful and heartfelt video.
How bitter and miserable you must be to take the time to write something so negative. How sad…
Gays are the most persecuted minority in America. Statistical fact.

Leave them alone.
Thanks for sharing this essential video, and thanks to the men and women at Pixar for putting it together.
As a straight man and novelist, it was particularly interesting to me, as I’ve just written a book in which a leading character is a deeply closeted lesbian. (Nerissa’s First Christmas – shameless plug) I was gratified to see that I had expressed her fear and isolation in an accurate way, as it is central to the plot.
I’ve been a life-long actor, so I’ve worked along side of many gay men and lesbians and have had an advantage, in that I’ve seen first-hand their joys and heartbreaks, and have known them to be identical to my own. Whether in career, relationships, or just in every day living, they experienced things the same way I did. But, they had the extra burden of knowing that there were people who held them in contempt for no other reason than who they loved. How can we be so scared of love?
Having lived through the height of the struggle of African-Americans for basic civil rights, I can’t believe a small but vocal segment wants to continue such terrible discrimination against another group. All humans were made different from one another precisely as an opportunity for love.
I pray that all those who are hurting because of matters of sexual identity, race, beliefs, or any other condition, including depression, which makes them feel isolated and alone, will heed the message Pixar sent and understand that they are not alone. As Nerissa says in my book, “When you get right down to it, it’s all about love.
Cool!
Incredible….and further proof why Pixar is so successful. Thank you!
My favorite Pixar video is the snow globe with the mermaid in the bikini. It’s not as long as this video.
Production values on this are very, very good. It’s sad seeing how many people vote “down” this on Youtube.. when did it ever become a Christian value to root for someone to commit suicide? You’d think despite your position on any issue, hoping that someone doesn’t do something terrible out of desperation should be a universal value for everyone.
great point! just goes to show you this issue is about scapegoating and power. so-called “christians” latch onto it because it makes them feel holier than everyone else and they can ignore their own personal “sins.”
For the record, there are a lot of Christians who find abuse of gay kids deplorable. Our justification: Jesus loved everybody.
Great message Pixar! you guys rock………
Yeah, it only gets better if your privileged working in a place like Pixar. The rest suffer with shitty jobs and a hopeless future.
Dear beautiful people of Pixar, you got this straight white dad of two to choke up.
Thank you so much for this wonderful message of hope. One of the most amazing people in my life, my great aunt, was gay, and out in her fifties and ultimately into her eighties until she died. She was also confined to a wheelchair because of childhood polio. When she came out and joined the lesbian community in San Diego, she had something of a second life. She was embraced, and loved, taken Western dancing a couple nights a week and enjoyed an amazing group of people. It was a beautiful thing to see and she deserved all the love that was given to her and all that she was able to give in return, I wish she could have seen this.
Thank you.
