CAA made a couple of signings over the weekend. The agency signed Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, the Victoria’s Secret fixture who was hand picked by Michael Bay to replace Megan Fox as the female lead opposite Shia LaBeouf in Transformers: The Dark of The Moon. The agency also signed The Gotham Group, the management company run by Ellen Goldsmith-Vein which represents a wealth of source material from major publishers and comic book companies and has producing credits that include The Spiderwick Chronicles and the upcoming Taylor Lautner-starrer Abduction. Huntington-Whiteley wasn’t previously repped as an actress. The Gotham Group had been repped by WME, which last week signed Chris Columbus away from CAA.

Ellen Goldsmith-Vein rocks! Smartest woman in town. Awesome taste. She’s the Rumpelstiltskin of Hollywood. Spins straw into gold!
What about her rocks? Just another “producer” who takes a credit and a fee on her clients projects without providing services.
She happens to EARN her 10% as opposed to most reps in town. She cares. She’s a great friend to her clients. When they get a stupid note or lose out on a job, she feels the pain just as much as them, and she’s a real shoulder to cry on. And when they have successes, she sends awesome gifts. She conveys more passion in a single day than most producers express over the course of an entire project. She’s a cheerleader, she gets things done, and she thinks way outside the box. Her clients love her, her employees are happy, and she’s wildly philanthropic. In my 2010 Hollywood, the woman does rock.
The Gotham Group doesn’t own any IP. Ellen just tries to bully herself into credits, she isn’t a producer. CAA reps a management company? How in the hell does that make any sense? If I were their clients I would seriously question this.

Lets face it people, CAA has been dominating for 18 months since WME2 came to be. Wow WME signed Chris Columbus, they might as well have signed the explorer, that is how relavant that is.
This new ingenue who is starring opposite WME’s former star Shia Lebeof. I think Shia has more miles then Mr. Columbus,so does she. The Gotham Group is great!! That is potentially Millions in Commission.
So How does CAA put the final deathblow to bring about the END OF MORRIS. Sign the following agents. Forget about Board Members they are too entrenched.

Robert Newman – That would reduce the Morris Directors by 40%. Why doesnt WME have him on the board, why isnt he at least running the feature dept instead of the Sandler guy.
Mike Simpson – With his classy directors and Newman’s mass of directors. Consider WME’s dead in directors.
Charles King – Tyler Perry, did you see the lines this weekend. I guarantee they are underpaying Charles.

Sign – Here is the problem besides Whitesell there are no other superstar talent agents at WME, so target all
Whitesell clients.
TV
Ari Greenberg – The Brain behind the TV lit dept.
Cori Wellins – The powerful female TV Lit agent
Paul Haas – The brash but gets shit done agent.
Weitz – wont leave
TV – Non scripted
Colin Reno – Does the back breaking work for the dept.
Books – The number two lady in NYC. She didnt get onthe board.
Take these agents, and the the Agency will destabilize quickly.
Like Jenga, you only need to remove 7 or 8 pieces to make the entire structure crumble.

Second of all, the article lists Ellen as a producer of Spiderwick. Yet she was never on the set of this film. Therefore she received a credit for what reason? Out of the goodness of someone’s heart or through bullying?
She isn’t powerful AT ALL but would like to be, and she will do anything in my opinion, no matter how unprofessional, to get there.
But why distract from the original point- an agency is representing a management company? This makes sense in topsy turvey land only.

WME is the the BLACK KNIGHT, and after his arm is slashed off he claims “ITS JUST A FLESH WOUND”, meanwhile blood is spurting from his arm. But he doesnt give up, so the other Knight cuts, off his other arm, then his leg, then his other leg. But the BLACK KNIGHT wont give up. All WME can sign from CAA is old Directors and Actors, who eventually go back to CAA anyway when they realize that WME is disorganized and there is nothing better there.

You are wrong about Whitesell, he left CAA when Endeavor was weak, if they CAA were going to take his clients it would have been years ago. Plus Ben and Matt are tied to Whitesell forever. Plus he is an extremely strong agent.
Where the weakness in the Talent Dept, is as you call him the SANDLER GUY.
The agent known as the Sandler Guy, claims that he has never lost a client that mettered. Meaning that Ashton Kutcher and Chris Rock dont matter! Yeah right. This is coming from the man who says Shawn Levy is the next Spielberg!!
The Sandler Guy needs Sandler badly. Adam has remained loyal and has conquered the comedy world a dozen times over. But whas has eluded Sandler is Dramatic Directors taking him seriously. He has had a brush or two with good directors but that is it. The Sandler Guy supposedly goes around WME, crashing director meetings, begging for lists of Directors that will meet with Sandler. But They never hire him.
Adam you are a genius, there is only one place that can make what you want happen, yes, but sorry, you have to go to the DEATH STAR. Like all the other comedians that want drama have before you.
Also the second Jenga piece is an agent that Nikke reported on months back. Sharon Sheinwold who has 25 plus name actors and some bonafide stars. How she can work for Sandler guy is beyond me. He made her a spectacle in a staff meeting, by making her resign as head of the talent dept. I have heard, that

Adam Sandler is a genius, but he needs dramatic help. He creates as much $$$ as Tyler Perry. That is the weakness at WME, not Whitesell. Whitesell is too good!!
