EXCLUSIVE: Cartoon Network’s first hourlong live-action series Unnatural History is history. The cable network has opted not to pick up a second season from the show starring Kevin G. Schmidt as the skilled son of globetrotting anthropologists solving the postmodern mysteries of high school. The series premiered June 13 with 1.4 million viewers, airing on Sunday nights. A month later, it was moved to Tuesdays. Unnatural History‘s first season finale, which doubled as a series finale, aired on Sept. 21. Cartoon Network’s second hourlong live-action series, Tower Prep, premiered last month with 1.3 million viewers.

That sucks. I really loved this show!
I hope you were being sarcastic S.
That was the best show on tv
This was a terrific show for kids and parents alike! we will miss it.
I miss this show! Bring it back!
i love this show two it was great. i miss it so much. C.N. should put it back on.it had 1.4 million viewers, that is a lot of viewers. tower prep only had 1.3 million viewers.UNNATURAL HISTORY STILL HAD MORE VIEWS THAN tower prep.tower prep is ok but i UNNATURAL HISTORY IS WAY BETTER.
BRING IT BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BRING IT BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BRING IT BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

TOWER PREP ROCKED!!!!!!!!!! DNT U DARE SAY THAT UNATURAL HISTORY WAS BETTER CAUSE U LYIN!!!
please bring the show back!!!i loved it sooo much!!!!!!!
CN I TOTALLY agree with this poster!! I have been patiently waiting for it’s return (as well as TOWER Prep), although U. History was def. my favorite.
Cartoon Network PLEASE Bring these 2 shows back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
we can do without some of the current poor quality Shows (i.e. Chowder, reg.show etc.) You have huge audience base over 30. I know, all MY BUDS WATCH THESE SHOWS.
I hope you will reconsider this hastily made decision. Most of the kids you think are watching are online gaming anyway.
Sincerely,
Doug Trull.
hell no TP the best
i know i cant believe this i loved this show unnatural history and tower the other shows are stupid i like them but they don’t teach you anything
I totally agree c.n.should bring back that show it’s way better then all the other shows pls bring it back!!!

I totally miss the show bring it back it was my favorite!
That stinks, We watch as a family and really enjoyed the show.
Same for me this show is way better than tower prep
I agree. All three of my children couldn’t wait to watch this show and it was one of the few that I enjoyed watching with them. It was a guarenteed family night every week.
why did they cancel it that wasn’t smart of them
WHY?!?!?! WHY?!?!?!? WHY?!?!?! Unnatural history was my favorite on Cartoon Network and Tower Prep a close second…….So you better bring them back because ALOT of people like both shows and it works for Cartoon Network.
Please tell me your joking..(:
I am 64 years old and I have been looking forward to new shows. Bring it back, I love it!
yeah blees bring back unnatural histroy it was good and asome:)
Man i finally find a show i like then it gets cancelled after the first season!? Please bring it back.
Too bad they stole the title from a film thats been on the DIsney development grids for the past few years.
yes, because Unnatural history is SUCH an original title…
Stick to feature development, Schmucky.
A live-action show on Cartoon Network has been dropped. Hopefully, Tower Prep will receive a similar judgment soon (and considering the channel has already moved it from the Tuesday 8 PM E/P timeslot, it’s almost there).
Meanwhile, Cartoon Network’s Monday and Friday night lineups, which are all-animation, dominated Unnatural History when it was on and currently beats Tower Prep and the other live-action fare on the lineup. In fact, this lineup of animated fare is some of the freshest to come from the network in a long time, and Cartoon Network needs to get back into developing more animated titles and try not to be Nickelodeon and Disney Channel.
Unnatural History should be continued. It’s something that both my kids and I enjoyed watching together and there is not enough of this type of show out there. We watch tower prep too but really miss unnatural history.
I am really sorry to hear they have canceled this series. It was one of the few shows that my kids and I would watch together. My 11 years really enjoyed watching it every week. I hope they will reconsider their decision and renew this series.
It is a shame that CN cancelled Unnatural History, with the exeption of Scooby-Doo it was that only thing worth watching as a family. We were really looking forward to a second season. It was a pleasant change from the stupid and mind-numbing shows currently being offered.
Any chance it could be picked up by another network??
Totally Agree!!!!!
I read that the creator tried to get it on a different network but it didnt work. It truly was a good show though.
I really enjoyed watching this show. I have NO shows to watch now.
tower prep sucks bring back unnatural history its the show that makes me watch cartoon network bring it back cartoons are for little kids I’m eleven bring it back its my favorite show
tower prep does not suck i love that show and i also love unnatural history and they said that both of the two will not be coming back for a second season they were the two best shows on cartoon network so if u think that tower prep sucks than u suck case that was the awesomeness show ever
Very sorry to hear this. My daughter loved this show and it was a really good show for her to watch. Way better than the usual kid crap they serve up. It actually had some smarts.
I understand the arguments for Cartoon Network sticking to its roots, but I also think that, looking past the channel placement, Unnatural History is a good show. I thoroughly enjoyed its first season and will be sorry to see it go.
From 2000-2004, I used to watch the heck out of Cartoon Network.Since then, there hasn’t been anything worthwhile on the network. No Dragon Ball.No Justice League. No Samurai Jack. Now that Young Justice is starting up, I finally have a reason to watch, though it’s still just one show, so it’s not really saying much.
Too bad. It was a pleasant entertainment that hit the mark with its intended audience, if my 14-year-old daughter is any indication, and it seemed to show a lot of potential.
It was a great show, characters were good and funny, it was light hearted and I looked forward to it each week, I will miss it
what the fuck did they freakin cancel another show. im gannqa beat the crap out of them who ever did this shit.
Tower Prep is pretty good; I really hope it doesn’t get cancelled. The “‘Lost’ meets Hogwarts” concept is something I’m enjoying and Paul Dini is a Hell of a talent for CN to throw away. Let the network diversify and bring on most Prep.
How can boys trust live action anymore when even the programs starring boys are completely for girls? Jonas… Big Time Rush… Hats off to Cartoon Network for attempting to fill the void (minus the Tower Prep pilot. It’s sixty minutes of the camera f’ing the s out of that male-model lead. only makes us spotted and pudgy boys feel all the more spotted and pudgy. Still a cool show though.)
Zander, why not watch Disney XD or the trillion other shows geared for young boys? Do everything have to be male-centric? Oh, and lay off the Twinkies.
To be replaced with “Ice Ghost Truckers”…a show that investigates paranormal activity at Alaskan truck stops.
I am sorry to see that Cartoon Network does not value what is truly an amazing production.
Unnatural History brought all aspects of what “good TV” should be for kids; it also confirmed that it is possible to produce a program where parents can sit WITH their children and enjoy an hour of good entertainment.
The show itself, reminded us that just about anything is possible in life, and it also taught us some history lessons along the way.
America needs more of what Unnatural History was touting. It was a show that promoted strong values, teamwork, tolerance, intellectual knowledge, loyalty, and the importance of friendship. It represented a fresh perspective on what TV programing for kids should be, minus the sex, drugs and violence.
In canceling this show, I believe Cartoon Network has really blown a great opportunity. It is not often that you you can assemble a cast of writers, producers and actors, that have the chemistry to make a show interesting and compelling.
In canceling Unnatural History, I believe Cartoon Network is being short sighted and missing a great opportunity to make a contribution, albeit small, to the moral fabric of our Nation.
With some solid promoting this show had all the ingrediants to be a huge success. I think you may have prematurely dropped the ball on this one, CN!
Perhaps, some other network will recognize the potential of Unnatural History and score big on all fronts; after all, anything is possible in the world of entertainment, and in the world of Unnatural History.
Good program or not, you can’t fault a network for not picking up a show with low ratings. Blame the audience.
to: james taylor
from: mike werb (creator, unnatural history)
thanks for your kind words which were forwarded to me by kevin “henry griffin” schmidt. made a really crappy day a little brighter. i noticed you also posted (elsewhere) something about the obamas being fans of the show. don’t know where you got that information, but it was very nice to hear … wish i’d known sooner.
My son loves this show as do my Father and myself. This was must see tv in my house. My son even got to stay up late to watch it on Tuesday nights. I’m sorry to see it go.
Any chance this show could be picked up by another network, or is it proprietary to CN? Not only are most of the CN shows dribble, they are detrimental to watch. This show was not a fit for an audience that watched the other shows on this network, but seems it could be a fit for another network. Discovery (Kids)/ History Channel maybe? Even PBS might take it up because it would entertain an audience for which they seem to have little content.
Unatural History was my favorite, hopefully Cartoon Network won’t make any more crappy decisions.
My family loved this show. It was informational and inspirational for my boys. Finally a show that we could watch and look out for week after week. We are very sad–let’s hope another network is smarter and picks up this show.
this was the best show i ever watched u did an amazing job
Well said James! I don’t have children, and I’m not the chosen demographic but myself and other friends thoroughly enjoyed Unnatural History. I loved the mix of history, anthropology & mystery while featuring teens that aren’t afraid to use their intelligence. The young actors were engaging and had a freshness that you don’t see on many “teen” shows these days.
Ditto. I enjoyed watching this with my oldest son a lot. Good to see teens that role modeled studying and problem solving. I enjoyed it Mike, keep up the good work.
I agree…my 13 yr old enjoyed it as much as her mom. We’ll miss it. It’s one of the few things we’ve agreed on lately.
Thank-you for putting it all in place.
This was a really great show for young teens, and pre-teens that parents didn’t mind watching as well.
It’s really a shame when a show with great writing, Acting, and Directing, doesn’t get the chance to meet it’s potential.
I think the Cartoon Network gave up on something that could have been very successful for them. Really a shame!
Thank you for your comments. They say exactly what I was thinking. I watched the show with my husband and my 16 year old son… We ALL enjoyed the show.
We totally agree!
I agree totally with James Taylor’s comments. It’s hard to find a show that is decent anymore, plus one that is interesting and also gives the opportunity for kids to learn history in an interesting and fun way. I hope another channel will see the importance of this show and pick it up.
Right on. I will truely miss this show, along with my son.
I don’t understand how Cartoon Network webt from cartoons to live action shiws. I mean it wasnLt called cartoon network for no reason. I miss all the old shows. Like Dexter Labatory or Samurai Jack. I mean even Dismey Channel. It use to be all cartoon untill THAT so Raven Came On. Don’t get me wrong. I liked That So Raven but then came along The Sutie Life, Hannah Montanna, Phill Of The Future, that new show Shake It Up. I mean I liked all the shows before they started making them dumb and childish.
Again in total agreement!
Thank gosh. That show was so lame.
UNNATURAL HISTORY WILL BE AVENGED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
it better be avenged that was my favorite show!! CANCEL FLAPJACK OR SOMETHING DUMB LIKE THAT NO ONE WILL MISS IT!!!! AND NOW THEIR THREATENING TO CANCEL TOWER PREP TOO!!!! THEY MIGHT AS WELL LOCK ME IN JAIL WITH NO FOOD OR WATER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I hope they at least finish the first season of Tower Prep – it’s a good show.
maybe this is a sign. Cartoon Network has finaly figured it needs to go back and do what its name sake a network of cartoons and animated programing. not another Disney and Nick clone. though feel bad to see the cast of the show out of a job now.
Cartoon Network went to the expense of flying the cast to San Diego Comic Con this past July. I talked to creator Mike Werb who said the network was happy with the Tuesday ratings and they were also happy with the high quality they were getting for a very low budget. This is a good show and one that got the parents to watch and enjoy. Cartoon Network is making a big mistake.
Total Agreement!
When is Cartoon going to fire Rob Sorcher? He’s driven that network into the ground.
CN was really reaching with these two series. And they were not cheap, supposedly at the budget level CW is paying.
But in the end, there was nothing terribly original or noteworthy about either of them. Unnatural History really had nothing buzzworthy about it and Tower Prep seemed to me to be a ripoff of the show Strange Days in Blake Holsey High that NBC did a few years ago.
If they were hoping to bring a new audience to CN, I don’t think either of these ideas were aggressive enough to do it.
are you kidding me… have you even watched any of these shows… i mean really watched it. they are really good shows and if your reading these comments you would know that the shows are reaching the right audiences so you know what you mite want to find out what your talking about before you start judging because i used to watch strange days and its nothing like it at all….
just saying….
Big mistake!!! We have a large family and we would sit and watch as a family every week. The show was entertaining and we will miss seeing more seasons. I guess we will have to watch a different network for good family shows.
The ratings were bad so I don’t think the executives at cartoon network see it as a “big mistake”.
you are a big mistake because you are a waste of oxygen. unnatural history reached millions of people and most of them loved it, it’s just CN is full of retarded people like fox and decided to cancel an amazing show
The ratings were bad so I don’t think the executives at cartoon network see the canceling as a “big mistake”.As for the god family show you are looking for, try PAX, it’s alway family fum time on that network.

I was looking foward to seeing another season of Unnatural History for once I was kind of actually glad to see an unique show, that didn’t even bother to instaneaously dance and sing out of the blue. There should be a petition or a rally to get the show back on the air their is still time.
Get rid of all live action shows from Cartoon Network.
maybe you should try watching the shows they mite suprise you
I think if Unnatural History is cancelled, then Build Destroy Build and Hole in Wall would be next for cancellations and not air any Scooby-Doo live films either because I fell if Cartoon Network is only for cartoons, then air only cartoons. Unnatural History was a different and interesting type of show. I am in my late 30′s but I found it very interesting on the histories and cultures. Hopefully this show will move to another network for the second season like the new DISC Kids Channel, the HUB, would be a good idea. Wait a minute…if Unnatural History is gone, then Tower Prep is next…WTF! I like this show, too. Awww, man! Come on…gimme a break! If the producers or writers of Unnatural History and Tower Prep are reading this, move both shows to the HUB. It’s a new kids/family TV station which I think would be a perfect fit, please!
Adding more stuff to The Hub (especially from another channel) would just make it crappier than it already is.
This stinks.
This is seriously the best show Cartoon Network has ever produced, IMO. Seriously, it was a bad mistake to drop it.
IK!!!!!!!!! IM SO MAD!!
even with the low ratings as a 15 yo kid myself i found it engaging and looked forward to watching it ” i like history and it was interesting” tbh even if it was low ratings this show really gave me some hope for cn , having been watching tower prep i have enjoyed it
but would like to see a petition or something… i would gladly sign
Signed,
Freedom & liberty
you know what we should start a petition to show cartoon network that we care and want more unnatural history.
