EXCLUSIVE: Cartoon Network’s first hourlong live-action series Unnatural History is history. The cable network has opted not to pick up a second season from the show starring Kevin G. Schmidt as the skilled son of globetrotting anthropologists solving the postmodern mysteries of high school. The series premiered June 13 with 1.4 million viewers, airing on Sunday nights. A month later, it was moved to Tuesdays. Unnatural History‘s first season finale, which doubled as a series finale, aired on Sept. 21. Cartoon Network’s second hourlong live-action series, Tower Prep, premiered last month with 1.3 million viewers.

Our family will miss this series. We always looked forward to watching it. The acting was above par, the characters likeable, and the storylines interesting. It’s a shame…wish they would reconsider. It was by far the best thing on the Cartoon Network.

tower prep is the second live action series and its a great one it has elements of “lost” group trying to learn where they are and how to escape and a ” prison break” conspiracy feel. great work. id say outstanding shows. great actors to keep an audience interested. great job to the writers, outstanding. if CN is not interested sell the shows to nick. Keep on tower prep. The shows are not just for kids im 21.
come on guys lets make a petition and save unnatural history and protect tower prep so it makes it to season 2 or maybe season 3
I agree we should make a petition. I LOVED Unnatural History. I looked forward to it every week! I really like history and this show gave me interesting facts and the plots and actors were amazing! It was something that brighten my day until next week. This show is better than all the shows these days. It’s not filled with inappropriate content. I’m 16 and i would love to see one of my favorite shows back on tv and still running somewhere! PLEASE COME BACK! I would really love a season 2!

Amen! Unnatural History deserves another season! Two more even! I can’t believe they canceled it. All the other shows look like they’ve been written by writers on acid trips. I’m almost afraid to let my 11-year-old brother watch CN with all the creepy stuff on there. My whole family would watch it together. And I frequently watch the episodes I recorded. This cancellation stuff is total bull. Oh and Henry, Jasper, and Maggie are awesome.
Unnatural History was one of my favorite shows of all time, I would constantly look at the calendar, and hope that Sunday would come so I could watch. Henry Griffin was one of the best characters created in my mind, he had a unique style and personality that no one had seen before. I hope they bring it back.

Blame the viewers? The show that replaces it “Tower Prep” currently only has 1.3 million viewers, and Unnatural History had 1.4 million. A real shame to see it go away, and a big mistake if you ask me.
OHMYGEEE!! my younger siblings and i watched this show ALL the time. were sad to see it go and replacing it with “Tower Prep” didnt do anything at all. Miss Unnatural History and hope to see it return!!
Whoever made this decision at CN, is an idiot. Unnatural History, along with Tower Prep, are two of the best written, quality shows I’ve seen on television since the 90′s. I was just starting to catch up on episodes OnDemand and now they go and cancel the show. They better not do the same to Tower Prep because that show is friggin amazing. To the person who said it was a rip off of Blake Holsey High is way off. That show was extremely camp and corny. Tower Prep & Unnatural History actually have storylines and actors, nothing like what is currently crapping up the airwaves on Nick & Disney. I think Americans can’t possibly sit through something that is actually educational and entertaining. Shame on you, Cartoon Network. I hope Unnatural History gets a second life on another network worthy of it. Cartoon Network execs are clearly blind and deaf…and yet “Build Destroy Build” is still on there air. There’s no way that’s beating Unnatural History in ratings. Another good show….gone.

I have watched Cartoon Network since I was a kid and have loved all of their cartoons but I am glad that they are making shows that aim for a larger audience. I am 17 almost 18 years old and I don’t watch Cartoon Network’s other programming because I don’t have the time to watch show like Star Wars: Clone Wars, Adventure Time, Hole In the Wall, Robotomy, Dude What Would Happen, Destroy Build Destroy, Sym-Bionic Titan. Mostly the reason is that these shows SUCK!!!!!!!! And this show and Tower Prep were to only ones that I did and do watch. I bought the entire first season of this show on iTunes and I was hoping to buy the second. Hopefully Cartoon Network execs will get some kind of brain cell and renew the show and not end a show like Tower Prep because both of these shows are and where great they just need to know how to promote better because commercials only on their channel won’t get you a new live action show to be a hit.
I’m very sad about this. I really loved this show! I was so looking forward to the second season I literally cried when I read this! I can’t believe it’s cancelled. It was action and adventure and mystery and it was just perfect. I wish CN would reconsider. And if Tower Prep is cancelled, I will boycott CN, they need to stop canceling the great shows while the dumb ones continue to air.

My daughter (9) and I loved this show and we’re sorry to see it cancelled. The museum setting was great for folks who like to learn and are curious about history (and who have a good sense of judgement, says my daughter!) The three leading characters were a lot of fun -their teamwork, intelligence, and sense of humor made the show a delight for both of us (kudos to Jasper for being so funny!). We also hope another network will pick this up. Tower Prep is OK but a little darker and not as good as UH – harder to watch as a family show – not sure why. Gosh, compared to Disney stuff, this just was a lot cooler, less about image, more about mind and spirit. We need that stuff in our world today and for our kids.
I have to say I’m really upset to hear they didn’t renew this great show. My husband and I didn’t fall into the general demographics (at our mid-40′s with no children), but we both really looked forward to it every week. It was a good, clean, intelligent adventure show with good morals and lessons. Something that’s really hard to find these days. Tower Prep just doesn’t have the same appeal and there really isn’t anything else on the Cartoon Network that we care to tune into. I happened across the show by chance and was really glad I did. So much for their “To be continued” on the last episode.
Both Tower Prep and Unnatural History are amazing shows for kids. And hell, they are a lot better than the nonsense Disney is putting on TV now-a-days. I really applaud CN for sticking to making original ideas and for not re factoring ideas like Disney always does. Unnatural History had a nice appeal of mystery, suspense, action and History and I am so sad to see it leave. But I really love all the other new material Cartoon Network has put out lately. Tower Prep, Generator Rex, Ultimate Alien, and Symbiotic Titan. Cartoon Network really knows how to put together a great action series. And the can for sure teach Disney a thing or two. Disney hasn’t made a decent Action series since THE FAMOUS JETT JACKSON.

Our family is very sorry CN cancelled Unnatural Hx…. it was the first show we all could watch together that was fun and different and clean.. without the constant sarcasm and sexuality shoved at my 9 year old in almost every other offering. We were so impressed we started to tell everyone about it, only to discover it had been canned.
Ironically, we CAME to CN BECAUSE of unnatural hx… and although Tower Prep is not bad and is also a decent offering for a tween, it is sci-fi and we liked the lead in Unnatural Hx better.
I am shocked and VERY disappointed. Sounds like what happened to Christy years ago…. critics loved it and it got caught up in upper brass issues.

I’m going to kill somebody if they cancel Tower Prep. I’m 14, but it’s geared toward the older audience. Maybe selling the show to a network like Nick/TeenNick (preferably TeenNick) the show would get more viewers. Even letting other networks air the show while CN does would work as well.
You sir are one of a kind. Unnatural History was genius and so is Tower Prep. Unnatural History brought something to TV that’s been missing for a long time, a good, family oriented show. Usually, you can’t turn on any show (even Disney!) that doesn’t have any sexual meanings in it. My parents even found the show interesting to watch. Parents, especially mine, mostly find shows aimed at children and teens annoying and unproductive. Unnatural History brought the family together for an hour every week and I hope that you can continue with this great show.
I love Unnatural History, I think they should bring it back. I have watched a few of the Tower Prep episodes and in my opinion Unnatural History is a better show. Not that I think Tower Prep is a bad show, i just prefer the other.
Why did they cancel this?! It was the best show on television!! I mean, I understand 90% of the people who watched it weren’t smart enough to like it, but why cancel it!??
