EXCLUSIVE: Chris Nolan is lining up actresses he’ll meet for two female lead roles in The Dark Knight Rises, the third installment of the Batfranchise which Warner Bros has dated release on July 20, 2012. I’m told one of the roles is a love interest for Christian Bale’s Bruce Wayne, and the other is a villain. The actresses are: Rachel Weisz, Naomi Watts, Blake Lively, Natalie Portman, Anne Hathaway and Keira Knightley. Nolan is keeping the roles under wraps, just the way that he did when he drafted his Inception star Tom Hardy to come aboard to likely play a villain. Deadline broke that story October 13. I’m still not sure what the role is and I believe Hardy took the job without knowing or reading a script that’s still being tweaked.

I’d love Keira to play Catwoman.
What would have made this list even more interesting is if they included some women of other ethnic backgrounds. By that I don’t just mean black, which always seems to be the default. I’d love to see some latinas or perhaps Asian women up for consideration as well.

I heard this list is all a red herring… Nolan’s in talks with Conchata Ferrell as the love interest and Aubrey Plaza as the villian. I’m starting the line at the arclight NOW!
Who keeps throwing Blake lively’s name in everything? Really? Is her Agent trying to make it seem she is sought after and on same caliber as really “good” actors. I bet she is 10th on a list of 10 actors if that.

For the love of god, someone tell me why WB keep trying to shoehorn a love interest into every Batman film? The films don’t need them, and invariably are only used for the villain to kidnap and threaten.
Because it’s comic book, and it’s as close to seeing an hot woman as the comic book audience ever get.
And because all Superhero movies only have one plot. The outfits, powers and names change, bit the story is always the same — has been for 100 years.
Now, someone COULD (and SHOULD) write a different story involving superheroes — but as yet, no-one ever has.

I can’t see Rachel Weisz as a villain for some reason but from movies like The Mummy, Constantine, etc. I suppose she can play a strong dark role. Naomi Watts or Anne Hathaway would be good w/ Rachel Weisz. No Portman, Lively or Knightely. However, it should be one blonde & one brunette.
As for which female villain it would be, my 1st guess would be Talia then Harley Quinn, then Catwoman and then Poison Ivy.

I thought Nolan would have Talia Al Ghule in the third installment, for closure with the first movie (to which he alluded), but Talia is supposed to be half-asian, and it would suck to have an aryan play a half-asian like in the Hollywood movies of old

I am thinking…Keira, because of Nolan’s penchant for casting Brits in American roles, but for what role? Talia? Poison Ivey? Catwoman? Or just Bruce’s flavor-of-the-day ? In that case, Blake would do just as well, she is an established WB actress, not a stretch IMO
If they go on talent, then it should be Rachel Weisz or Naomi Watts.
If (and they probably will) they go on fanboy-factor or looks, it’ll be one of the others. Some of them have no talent at all, other than looking good.
Ideally it would be none of these actors. There are many better.
Anyway, there’s probably no hope for the movie anyway, as the 3rd movie in any franchise is NEVER better than the first two.

Star Wars 3: Revenge of the Sith was better than SW1:The Phantom Menace or SW2:Attack of the Clones.
And on a more high brow there is also Krysztof Kieslowski’s “Trois Couleurs” film trilogy where all three films were excellent and the third “Red” was just as great as the first two.
“White” was nowhere near as good as the other two. “Blue” best, “Red” very good indeed.

The Bourne Ultimatum was better than The Bourne Identity and The Bourne Supremacy.
Toy Story trilogy and LOTR trilogy all 3 films were great.
