Crash actress Arlene Tur is joining the upcoming fourth season of Torchwood as a recurring. The news comes as producers of the British-born cult hit continue their exhaustive search for two new series regulars to join franchise vets John Barrowman and Eve Myles. Enver Gjokai (Dollhouse) and Chad Michael Murray (One Tree Hill) had been circling the male role – a sharp-as-nails, funny-as-hell, tough-as-rawhide CIA agent — but producers ultimately deemed neither to be a good fit. (I’m told a feeler was also put out to James Wolk, the breakout star of Fox’s short-lived Lone Star, but he passed.) Greek’s Amber Stevens, meanwhile, had been circling the female part — a CIA Watch Analyst who possesses an unshakable faith in human nature. Tur will play a surgeon by the name of Vera Juarez. Starz recently nabbed domestic rights to the show’s fourth season in a co-production deal with BBC Worldwide Prods. Michael Ausiello will be contributing to Deadline.com and Movieline.com as he preps for the early ‘11 launch of a new TV-centric website.

Who the hell cares if Ianto is not there?!? Get over it already people. It’s Torchwood: its operatives die young, that’s a canon fact. Ianto did not make the show: Jack Harkness makes the show. Period.
Actually, for many people, Ianto was the star of the show, not Captain Jack. Which just goes to show what a terrible writer RTD is in that more people fell in love with the wise-cracking butler than the leading man. And you forgot to mention that operatives die young – except Gwen. If RTD wants to be taken seriously, he needs to apply the same standards to all his characters.
As for “getting over it”, ummmm, no, I don’t think I will!
No. A cast of 5 made the show.
Who’s the obsessed ones, those who like Ianto and wanted his character and his story to be actually developed or those like you who only see John Barrowman, John Barrowman and John Barrowman?
Get a grip already. ALL characters are important. The moment you throw them and their story out of the window, unnecessarily, that means there’s no need to bother with the show.

Jeeez people – picky picky picky! I think what Tracy is probably trying to say is … that they can hype up the new series trying to entice you by dangling popular American TV stars to whet your appetite but if you are a true and original fan of the BRITISH series, with RTD stabbing those fans firmly in the back and killing Ianto without truly portraying his and Jack’s relationship but just to boost the ratings, then there is no point in watching because as RTD has made it clear … 1) he does not care about the fans he rules and to spite those fans Ianto will never return and so 2) it will be two years since the series ended and therefore the storyline will be Jack moving on to another lover – so anyone who has died did not exist!!!
Jack and Ianto were special and deserved better – with over 400,000 hits to my YouTube Janto website I am not the only one who thinks that!
The fact that you have now will have a character who is a pedophile gives you an idea as to how low RTD is willing to stoop to get ratings and trying to cover it by saying he wants to make the story dark to make it seem real in the public’s lives is total BS! He is a ratings whore with a massive ego who is on a personal mission to become something bigger in the US because the UK don’t want him!
The regular actors [with the exception of JB] should be worried because I am guessing they are all expendable – even Gwen!! So goodbye Rhys, maybe goodbye new Gwen baby … the list goes on!!??
But Tracy … I am with you … I could care less who they choose for the new series because I won’t be watching it either!!
I liked Ianto, but I’m not rending my garments because he died. He was an okay character but rather bland. Just bringing him back (and doing a reset for Tosh and Owen too) would be terminally ridiculous. Torchwood is an adult show and that’s how I like it. Bring on Series 4!
Two words: James Marsters.
Enver Gjokai wouldn’t be a good fit? Yeah they got that right, he’s got more talent in a finger than the rest of the bunch of sorry losers on Torchwoody put together.
Perhaps they should go poaching on the Stargate Universe staff. Random strangers who tweet from bars keep speculating the show isn’t long for this world.
I never really liked Ianto, personally. Tosh and Owen were both much more interesting, and I miss them far more than I do that rather wet cry-baby Ianto.
everyone who says they wont be watching torchwood again are lying to themselves…ull all at least watch the first episode of season 4 to see what happens and by then youll be sucked into watching the next 9!!!!
i was hurt by ianto’s death too but seriously people, get over it
The main thing is that they produce compelling story lines, for us viewers to tune in for the next episode. Torchwood’s story lines have to be consistent with the Dr Who Universe and that must continue or the show will have no validity,
as long as the writers remember this they won’t have any problems. The BBC’s prime time audience are looking to be entertained, to them it’s irrelevant where an actor is born, only that that person is good at what they do on the set, and that the writers use their imagination, when they’re considering story lines.
