EXCLUSIVE: 20th Century Fox has closed a high six-figures pitch deal for Alex Litvak & Mike Finch to write an untitled secret project that’s an action thriller set in deep space. I’m told that Timur Bekmambetov is circling the project, though he might well wait until a script is written before actually getting involved. The Verve-repped Litvak & Finch are best known for their big spec deal for Medieval to New Regency, with Wonderland producing. That picture, which once had Rob Cohen attached to direct, is being re-calibrated to go into production next year. The duo received sole credit on the Robert Rodriguez-produced Predators, and they are currently writing the Sony Pictures Entertainment/ Mattel film He-Man: Masters of the Universe. Litvak also wrote 3 Musketeers, the 3D movie that Paul W. S. Anderson is directing for Summit and Constantine.

Good for them. Great writers and terrific gentlemen. Good talented peeps who aren’t just “good in a room” and deliver can actually succeed after all.
Congrats to the guys! And congrats to Verve too.
Really?!? Enough with the Bekmambetov attached projects. It ain’t even funny no more!
He’s actually great. I’m happy he’s finally focused on US projects. Keep with it kid, you’ll develop some taste.
Are you questioning my taste? Did you see any of his shitty films in Russian? He is one of the worst directors ever. WANTED was big only because of Angelina. And NIGHT WATCH made a little over 1 million in the US. Much hype about nothing.
To Smarty: “Great writers”?!? Seriously? You *did* see “Predators”, right? You don’t make a movie by jumbling up dialogue from other films in the genre and pulling it out of a scrabble bag. Their logic and storytelling is remedial at best.
As for Bekmambetov…that guy simultaneously also has no story sense. I’ve seen all of his movies so far, and not only can he not resolve a third act. Plus which, his red herrings are laughable. “The chalk of destiny”? “The loom of fate”? I know he’s Russian, but pulling his inciting elements from Fortune Cookies is incomprehensible to me.
So: a director with no story sense, teams up with a pair of writers who can barely string sentences together. Oh, joy. 20th Century Fox, you’ve sunk a long way since “Patton” and “Planet Of The Apes”. 75 years old. Let’s hope you can make it to 100…
Timur is now officially the Leo of directors.
So, all we are going to see in 2 years is space movies from every studio now???
I’m turning my space movie into an underwater Abyss now. This sucks.
