EXCLUSIVE: Chicago-based theater actor Cliff Chamberlain has landed the male lead opposite Ana Ortiz in Fox’s off-cycle comedy pilot Outnumbered, which is being directed by Larry Charles. Inspired by the BBC sitcom, Outnumbered revolves around one set of parents (Ortiz, Chamberlain) who are often overwhelmed by their three children. Chamberlain will play the dad, Pete Tulley, an attorney who is often exhausted and overwhelmed by the demands of fatherhood. The project is being produced by 20th TV, Chernin Entertainment and Hat Trick Prods, the British company behind the original series.

chicago theatre artists are insanely talented. cliff chamberlain is one hell of an actor. fox is smart for looking in chicago, and lucky they got him.
That is good news; finally, they have come to choose a good actor. Outnumbered as I have remembered was a British comedy award winning and been aired on 2007, good that we able to have such a remake of this great comedy series.
Cliff has been around Chicago for years. He’s a normal guy, trained in this little thing called THEATRE. He’s not “new” to anything. He’s worked hard to get where he is and CHICAGO is finally getting the recognition it deserves. Michael Shannon, Janina Gavankhar, Parveesh Cheena- there are so many talented actors emerging from Chicago that L.A. never heard of before 5 years ago. Be prepared…

Most importantly, Chamberlain is a TRAINED actor. Not like weekend classes by some hack teacher, but carries a B.F.A. in Theatre acting. Most aspiring actors in LA are HACKS – that’s why casting is looking in theatre cities for talent. Just because your aunt says youre good looking and you smirk when you talk, doesnt mean youre an actor.
