Shawn Ryan’s The Chicago Code (formerly Ride-Along) will premiere on Monday, February 7, the night after Fox’s Super Bowl broadcast. As originally announced in May, the show will air in the Monday 9 PM slot which it were to share with the cancelled Lone Star. Jason Clarke and Jennifer Beals star in The Chicago Code, executive produced by Ryan and Tim Minear. It follows Chicago’s most powerful and respected cops as they navigate the city’s underbelly to fight crime and expose corruption within Chicago’s notorious political machine. By launching The Chicago Code right after the Super Bowl, Fox will certainly try use TV’s biggest promotional platform to drive viewers to the premiere the next night.
TV Editor Nellie Andreeva - tip her here.

“24″ had the highest household income average of any show on broadcast (for a while, anyway), making it prime inventory for upscale products (mostly cars). So it made sense on paper to try and make that hour a little more upscale with “Lone Star”.
We’ll see if “The Chicago Code” can stick.
Doubtful FOX will ever see the quality of audience it got for “24″ again. Unless, of course, it devs a center-right action show with lots of tech. Gee. What a concept…
Let the death watch begin…
URGH ANOTHER COP SHOW That’s 2 this week already that got greenlit. SPARE ME!
I’m looking forward to this show. However, I’m not crazy about the name change. Just wondering if Ryan has made this a serialized drama like The Shield or if it’s a procedural case of the week type show. It seems like new serial dramas are just not clicking with anyone in the ratings these days.
I see two females and five males in the leads. Isn’t interesting how the population of TV shows is close to 80% men?
It’s time to acknowledge this.
It’s time to acknowledge a lot of things about TV casting.
considering that his wife is a talented actress (Cathy Cahiln Ryan), I doubt he is trying to limit the opportunities given to female actresses.
It’s time to acknowledge no one on Glee looks or acts like actual high school students,
It’s also time to acknowledge that no one on Glee can act and it’s the most cheesy, annoying, and overrated show ever!
the funny thing is that cops in chicago are part of the corruption, Chicago cops are the underbelly. the series finale would be the cops were in it all along
Another Cop Show? No. Not just another Cop Show. It is Shawn Ryan for Christ sake. That guy made THE SHIELD the most brilliant cop show ever (and one of the most brilliant of any show ever). SHIELD had a long, great story arc, compelling, 3D characters, action, realism ergo FAR FAR better on any front than 24.
So I am eagerly waiting for Chicago Code. although the orig. title “Ride Along” would have been much better.
I still like “Ride-Along” better. But I’ll still watch and look forward to this…
and Shawn Ryan discovers Jennifers Beals ain’t no Glenn Close / CCH Pounder in 3…2…1…
Just watched the promo for this on FOX.com.
The ’90s are over, right? Who approves these lame spots?
The show is shot under an AFTRA contract. That union really stinks. I know actors that have had to shell out $1700 dollars to join that corrupt union or else they can’t work. I thought one hour dramas were supposed to be under Screen Actors Guild jurisdiction. I know “The Shield” was a SAG show. I won’t watch any AFTRA sh*t. I’m not supporting any corrupt unions like AFTRA.
Dave, it’s only AFTRA because it’s shot on HD. Otherwise it would be SAG (like The Shield). With the majority of shows shot on HD now most TV shows are AFTRA. I have a feeling with the new group running SAG that AFTRA & SAG will merge at some point to form one guild. I know many actors who are happy to do AFTRA shows because they’ve maxed out their SAG pension and can contribute now to AFTRA.
Open letter to networks: I’m completely bored with cop, doctor, and lawyer shows. Please tell your writers to come up with something else.
A woman as Superintendant of the CPD?
This must be a sci-fi show.
Great just what we need, another cop show. YAWN
Wait I thought glee was getting the post super bowl slot?
