FX ‘Lights Out’, ‘Archer’ Get Premiere Dates

• Just my opinion, but Archer should have won the Emmy this year. Instead the choices were a tired Simpsons episode, a South Park that started out great but then completely fell apart, a podcast set to animation (I love Ricky Gervais too, but seriously?), and a science program. No wonder a Disney Christmas special won. There was nothing else good to vote for.

  Archer and The Life & Times of Tim should have both been finalists at least.

• Lights Out looks pretty good and I am sure it will be based on FX’s reputation but again, like with Terriers, I think the marketing for it is boring and is not doing the show justice. I look back at the launch for Justified and it was good and enticing. Not sure what has changed at Fx’s marketing the last 12 months but it needs to improve fast.

• Glad Archer’s back. Very funny comedy with H. John Benjamin, Chris Parnell, Judy Greer and Aisha Tyler as the lead voices. Wish FX would give it more episodes per season though.

    • Let me be clear Michael, I do not work for FX and the ratings for this show are beyond horrible. But I do enjoy it. Also, H. Jon is the lead voice of Bob’s Burgers and that show is complete garbage.

      I genuinely enjoy Archer. The gay secret agents episode with Thomas Lennon voicing was great last year.

      Just a fan is all.

• “Lights Out” looks very good. Gritty, hard-hitting, morally ambiguous…the recipes for most good shows nowadays.

  Latest trailer is very good, love the musical score.

  • “Unrelatable”? These people are all idiots, with guns and licenses to kill, I should hope to God the average viewer would find them “Unrelatable.”

    You want smug, go watch an episode of “Curb Your Enthusiasm.” “Archer” is pure genius, and the funniest show I’ve seen in a long time. If it had been broadcast on Fox instead of FX, it would have been the top rated animated series of the season.

• Lights Out pilot was awesome script. Best of the bunch last year. Remains to be seen if they can keep it at that level. FX has been spotty of late.
