EXCLUSIVE: The Good Wife is adding a third private eye to its payroll. Tim Guinee — a.k.a. Gillian’s cocaine addict ex on Lie to Me — has been cast in the potentially recurring role of Wiley, an investigator working for the State’s Attorney’s office. Wiley (who debuts in early ’11) agrees to do a little reconnaissance for now-prosecutor Cary (Matt Czuchry) and hits pay dirt. It’s unclear if Guinee will get mixed up in the psychological war currently playing out between Kalinda (Archie Punjabi) and Blake (Scott Porter), the feuding in-house private investigators at Lockhart Gardner and Bond. Michael Ausiello will be contributing to Deadline.com and Movieline.com as he preps for the January launch of a new TV-centric website.

The Good Wife is a fantastic show made even better by the addition of Tim Guinee. He is a terrific actor. I can’t wait to see what he does on the show.
Ausiello, you are all over the place, are we going to be able to get all your scoops from one source?
Liz – Read the end of the story. There’s the answer to your question!
I love Tim Guinee! TGW just got better. Can’t wait!
Wow. Tim Guinee and Elizabeth Reaser AND Alan Cumming were all in a fantastic film together – “Sweet Land.” And now all three of them are in a fantastic television show together! This is great!
Tim worked on my first ever produced writing credit on TV! Couldn’t have happened to a better guy or actor! Congrats!
Not a fan of The Good Wife, but love Tim Guinee. Now what to do?
Revealing that Czuchry will be taking Titus Welliver’s spot on the show is a bit of a spoiler, methinks?
FWIW, Guinee played a smarmy bad-guy role on Robert and Michelle King’s previous series, In Justice. He’s a good actor.
Archie Panjabi is one of the greatest things of the good wife and she won an emmy to prove that — so why are they lessening her role?
If this is indeed true, that would be unfortunate. Panjabi is a super-magnet for many a watcher – the way the filmmakers both fetishize and provide issue-driven cracks in her Kalinda is powerful! Kalinda/Panjabi is tour de force of existential pathology. Please develop her more!
Just what I thought when I read the news. As if Blake wasn’t enough of a nuisance… do we really need a THIRD investigator?
I’m completely ok with the tradeoff if Guinee replaces Porter but I doubt it. I don’t mind finding out more about Kalinda but that could be done by bringing back the excellent Lili Taylor so if they could get rid of Porter and give us some Season 1 Kalinda, instead of diluting her role some more and giving it to classic male PIs characters, that would be awesome.
Congrats to Tim…great actor, great guy, well-deserved.
