It must be frisky trailer week, because Deadline has got hold of yet another movie trailer–this one is Red Band–based on the concept of coupling without commitment. The latest is Friends with Benefits, the Screen Gems comedy that stars Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis as close friends who want sex without the usual messy relationship that comes with it, and hop into bed with each other hoping it won’t affect their friendship. Earlier this week came the trailer for Hall Pass, about two randy married guys who are given a pass by their wives to cheat for a week, and Just Go With It, with Adam Sandler playing a guy who invents a fake family to bed a beauty played by Brooklyn Decker. And Paramount put out a trailer for No Strings Attached, with Ashton Kutcher and Natalie Portman playing roles similar to what Timberlake and Kunis are seen doing below. You might recall, the Paramount/Montecito film originally bore the title Fuckbuddies, which would have placed severe limits on marketing. The studio then tried to use Friends With Benefits, only to find Screen Gems already registered the title. But Paramount might have the last laugh. According to its trailer, No Strings Attached hits theaters January, 2011, while Friends with Benefits won’t be released until next summer. Judging from this spate of upcoming movies, has Hollywood decided that monogamy and committed relationship are out of style?

I think timberlake is a comedy star fail
He performs like he is in on a joke. Works for sketch but not film.
Liked him in social network though. He can play a side guy with an agenda pretty well.
Exactly. He’s too smug for his own good, especially in that last scene where he’s singing “Closing Time.” It was funny on SNL but now it’s getting old.
looks funny… i’m in.
Looks horrible, but Kunis is kinda banging.
this seems a lot better than the Ashton-Natalie one. The Adam-Jennifer one feels convoluted and inane. This one looks cute. Timberlake looks like a star.
Friends with benfits and no strings attached, just go with it!
When I saw the first scene I recalled “The Deal” from Seinfeld, then came the Castle Rock logo….creepy.
No, it’s decided that original voices and good writing are out of style.
“Judging from this spate of upcoming movies, has Hollywood decided that monogamy and committed relationship are out of style?”
Nope. I’m sure by the end of each and every one of those films listed, the characters will end up in a monogamous, committed relationship with each other after trying not to have feelings for one another.
These movies all look retarded, but if a gun was pointed at my head and I had to pick one, this one looks like it would be my choice to see.
And of course monogamy isn’t out of style. That’s only the premise of all these. At the end, they all will decide to be in a relationship. But in Hall Pass one couple will probably get divorced; the rate is 50%, after all.
Props for Mila going from Swan to JT. Much better career choice than Natalie, who for some reason decided to make a movie with Kutcher. Unfortunately for both of them, Strings will underperform because Kutcher is in it and then Benefits will underperform because it looks like a Strings clone.
I think Hollywood decided that about 50 years ago…
Didn’t the first 30 seconds of the trailer look like a variation of a Seinfeld episode? Not too clever.
“Has Hollywood decided that monogamy and committed relationships are out of style?”
That answer will depend on how these so-called “movies” perform…
If Hollywood makes money with the above soft-core porn, then “yes”, monogamy and committed relationships are out of style, until such time when they again become profitable.
You’re crazy if you think any of the many comedy films that have dropped trailers recently will end with ANY ending other than the boy and the girl living happily ever after in a committed and blissful relationship.
That’s Hollywood. Always has been, always will be.
They should have called it “Buckfuddies.” That’s what we called fuckbuddies in college.
This actually looks cute and funny. This site has become a cesspool of negative comments. I guess people feel better about themselves when they knock things down. Ah, humanity.
I for one will be seeing this movie opening night — along with everyone else on this site who claims to hate the movie I’m guessing.
And the circle continues….
I saw this movie two years ago and it was called “Young People F***ing”. It was funny, this one not so much.
“Can guys and girls just be friends? Does sex HAVE to ruin the friendship?”
I don’t know, but if I really want to watch someone try to answer that question, I’ll watch one of the 1,472 TV SHOWS or one of the 725 MOVES THAT HAVE ALREADY BEEN MADE ABOUT IT!
And no no no…cute little Asian girl reprising the horrid and grating Chloe Moretz role from 500 Days. NO! People, please stop putting kids in your sex comedies.
Oh dear…the “Closing Time” gag was KINDA funny at first, then they gotta beat it to death…and that’s just in the trailer. Not a good sign.
Justin Timberlake has a ton of charisma. Kunis is just plain adorable. This is gonna work.
will this be NC17 because he goes down on her?
I dig it. Can feel the chemistry. I will definitely check this out.
Same premise as the lame Kutcher film, but this one looks os much better because Justin Timberlake actually has charisma and doesn’t take himself seriously.
I for one am interested in what Timberlake can do. Quiet an interesting array of roles he has taken so far and smartly, I might add. He looks really comfortable doing comedy.
This looks great. Another perfect score for Clint C. That guy is a freaking genius. Had lunch with him once, the man is brilliant.
I wonder if there was awkward moment on the set of Black Swan where Mila was telling Natalie about this crazy new fuckbuddy type movie she was going to be in, and Portman was like “no wait…I’m going to be in that movie.” Then they both paused and stared at each other as a beat of silence passed until passion overtook them and they started making out. That’s how it went down in my head movie anyway.
Justin, PLEASE stick to music!
dumb dumb dumb dumb dumb.
Like Kunis, but looks terrible.
Romantic movie, I love the sound track that sounds just right for the theme of of the movie. Damn good movie, I like it!
