Oh good — so is every scifi movie from now on going to rip off the Inception score?

Dude, do you even work in this industry? Have you never seen movie trailers before? They almost always borrow score from other films because their own music isn’t finished yet. I don’t know why moronic comments like yours bug me so much but man you’re stupid.

Duuuuuh, no, Mr. Really Smart Person. I ain’t never seen no movie trailer before. Thank you for taking the time to explain how the big scary world works to an inbred ignoramus like me.
Duurrrr hurrrrr.
Herp derp.

Just about every trailer has stolen the Requiem for a Dream score. Nothing new.

definitely using that same sardonic tuba noise from inception.

Great trailer…lots of hard work and it’s going to pay off! Can’t wait for the movie to open…

i saw the 20 minute sneak. the film is too dark (and by that i don’t mean the storyline) for the 3-D to be that effective.
Comment by dudette — Tuesday November 9, 2010 @ 10:53am PST Reply to this post
The darkness makes the 3D pointless. I also find myself bored by the lead actor and bad CGI on young Bridges. It’s a shame because there’s no big movie this Holiday season. I wish Green Lantern and Tron could swap release dates.

Nice try but no….

I don’t know if it’s just me but the trailer seems very uninspired as does the film itself. Also, the CG for the young Jeff bridges looks horrible and a step in the wrong direction! It totally takes me out of the scenes he’s in and comes off as laughable. Would it have been that hard to cast a actor who looks like a young Jeff Bridges? Otherwise they should have gone with a higher budget for the FX work for his CG double. I’m on the fence with this one until the reviews start rolling in.

unless i’m misaken it’s basically the only science fiction film that’s been released this year. inception was a hybrid thriller.
the best thing about tron is that they’ve brought the original actors back. why would anyone want to replace jeff bridges (who was in the first film) with a lesser version of him? i actually think the effects crew did a good job on ‘younging’ him up.

Reminds me of STAR TREK NEMESIS and that’s not a compliment.

Agreed. I thought look pretty good. Great effects.
This looks awesome. I need to see this now. The Daft Punk score is incredible.

Looks terrible. Sci-fi geeks will love it but they get so few true sci-fi films each year they love almost anything. To me, it looks uninspired and dumbed-down PG-rated Disney crap.

Garrett Hedlund is fantastic. I think we’ll be seeing a lot more of him. I certainly hope so.

I agree. I wish every young actor would take a cue from this talent.
He’s the real deal.

This franchise is in a great position to be the next “Matrix”…
Here’s to hoping they don’t eff it up like the Wachowskis did.

Interesting comments to the trailer, guys. I actually work with Disney so we appreciate the feedback. Personally, I think the CGI effects look amazing – we have some of the best people in the business working on them! The reactions we got from our advanced previews have been really great, including praise for the special effects and 3D, so I think when you watch the finished film, you just might be impressed. Beyond that, you might enjoy the story, which we think is a great way to tie the first film to this one, as well as a pretty awesome score from Daft Punk! So please don’t write it off yet

I’m excited and think it looks cool. I’m totally in! Give me my 3D glasses now!

this movie looks like one big suck.

I didn’t particularly care for the trailer but I think this movie will do very well. I can’t wait to watch it in 3D. I hate movies that try to cash in on the 3D hype but this movie was made for it. (Props to the Disney guy for actually saying he’s from Disney.)

Does anyone remember how bad the first one was?
We’re not talking about Blade Runner here…
This movie sucked in the theaters, and that ‘legacy’ was all but forgotten until some D-brat trying to save his/her job decided to resurrect it at the Monday morning staff mtg.

I do not work for disney. I did not know they DIDN’T recast for young Bridges. The effect is truly groundbreaking. He looks better then anything that has won Academy Awards before. This movie will be huge. That’s all that needs to be said. Trust me.

Are you serious? Mind you I haven’t seen the film yet, however the effects for the young Jeff Bridges in the trailers look off and very artificial. This would have been somewhat passable if the film was a full on CG affair like Beowulf but not for a film that has mostly live characters in the cast. From the looks of it the FX teams haven’t yet crossed the “uncanny valley”. Perhaps they needed more development time to polish this up. James Cameron and his FX teams raised the bar with Avatar and to deliver something less than may not fly. Especially with a tentpole film such as this.
That said I’m hoping that the film will exceed my expectations, which at this point are middle of the road.

Looks worse and worse and worse. That mo-cap cg Jeff Bridges looks like a bad videogame from the ’80′s–so cheap looking. What a shame. I thought the idea of disney remaking this was to make it GOOD, not worse, than the original (which wasn’t very good…as we all know).
Comment by Scott — Tuesday November 9, 2010 @ 7:29pm PST Reply to this post
I agree! The fx look like they were “designed (and I use that term VERY LOOSELY in regards to this mess)” by rejected art school students! No imagination at all. Just awful.

The original Tron was an overhyped pile. This will be a rental maybe.

A lot of people on the Internet complained about the “Avatar” trailers looking “too cartoony.” Look how that turned out…

I can’t wait to see this … to see the POTC4 trailer attached to it!
Slickly produced, but the trailer tells me very little on what the story is about other than the father-son relationship.
Agreed, maybe a little more info about who the bad guys are or what they’re about.
