EXCLUSIVE: Fox has picked up comedy pilot Breaking In for midseason with a seven-episode order. The order comes after several weeks of negotiations between Fox and the project’s producer Sony Pictures TV. The single-camera workplace comedy starring Christian Slater is being rumored as a possible replacement for Fox’s underperforming fall comedy Running Wilde, which has not received a back order. It is expected to be featured on Fox’s upcoming midseason schedule. The Sony TV/Happy Madison-produced Breaking In, which is set at a digital security firm, was developed last season. The pilot, written /exec produced by Adam F. Goldberg and directed/exec produced by Seth Gordon, had buzz and tested very well but ultimately missed the cut for a series pickup at Fox in May. In June, the network gave it a new lease of life with an order for 2 additional scripts, leading to Sony TV’s decision to extend the options on the cast, led by Slater and featuring Reaper star Bret Harrison. With the pickup, Sony TV now has comedy series on each of the Big 4 broadcast networks: Mr. Sunshine and Happy Endings on ABC, veteran Rules of Engagement and midseason entry Mad Love on CBS, sophomore Community on NBC and Breaking In on Fox.

..cause he’s had so many hit shows in the past.
Hooray for Goldberg! About time he gets his series.
He should do a TV series based on the film. Nobody wants to see him in anything else.
Chad, couldn’t have said it better. So over this guy. Been there and done it and done it. He can’t hold a show
this was a great pilot. good for fox for picking it up to series. goldberg is a great guy and a great writer.
How does this annoying twerp still get work?
Haven’t seen the pilot – but read it and Harrison is the protagonist, not Slater. Slater need not carry the show and might be solid in his secondary role.
It will fail just like all of his tv series and movies from the last 15 years. It’s a safe bet that all 7 episodes will never get aired before it gets canceled.
this show will be met with scorn and derision by the comic con crowd. hope that’s not the market they’re aiming for, because geeks are going to hate this frat-boy garbage.
Adam Goldberg and Seth Gordon doing this show — not sure you can say the King of Kong creator or the guy who wrote Fanboys are frat boys.
Note to the unfortunates: he was great in “Heathers,” which was a dark comedy.
And 1990′s Pump Up The Volume.
Adam F. Goldberg is a crazy good writer. Funny, whip smart, and nice to boot. And if it’s any reflection of his talent, this show should be A-Mazing. Season pass that shit.
Hi, Adam!
The guy is washed up – Tracy Brennen needs to ship him off to WMEand let Ari waste his time – Tracy needs to focus on the real CAA clients -
10 episodes max.
Who are the aforementioned critical “he can’t carry a show” posts referring to? Better not be Christian Slater, because he is hilarious! I’ve loved him in a darkly comic role more than almost any actor. Slater also still looks great. Funny and nice to look at. Great Job Fox! I’m looking forward to this show. I’m also a huge fan of Burn Notice and Breaking In reminds me of it.
