Veteran writer-producer John Tinker has joined TNT’s medical drama Hawthorne. He will serve as executive producer/showrunner on the Jada Pinkett Smith-starring series’ upcoming third season. Tinker replaces Glen Mazzara who ran the series fin its second season. Production on Season 3 is scheduled to being in the spring.
On the Sony TV-produced Hawthorne, Tinker will serve as an executive producer alongside creator John Masius, Pinkett Smith, Miguel Melendez and Jamie Tarses. Tinker and Masius go back a long time. They worked together on St. Elsewhere, and in 1986, won an Emmy for co-writing an episode of the show with Tom Fontana. Meanwhile, Mazzara has a new project in the works with Sony TV, which received a scripted commitment from Fox. Mazzara is writing the project, a medical drama, and is executive producing with Peter Tolan.

Awesome! I hear nothing but positive things about Tinker, too. Great writer, even better person. Very excited to see what he can deliver to “Hawthorne” from his experience on “Chicago Hope” and “St. Elsewhere”… Looking forward to Season 3!
And Tinker will need all the luck he can find dealing with Will Smith’s constant interferences!

John Tinker is the perfect guy to run Hawthorne. He is a strong writer with clever and creative ideas. He is a wonderful guy to work with and a great team player.
There isn’t a higher quality guy in Los Angeles than John Tinker. He is a phenomenal writer and an exceptional mentor to young writers. I am grateful to have worked with him early in my career and to have seen that you can be successful while remaining decent and honest. Great hire, TNT.
That’s exactly what Hawthorne needs – A great mentor who can put his expertise behind young minds, ultimately giving the series the jump/fresh start it requires to be a successful summer show.

Thanks very much to all the nay-sayers, it’s people like you who join up with the ‘so-called critics’ that kill good shows like this, but what else is new in our society?
Say what you will, there are plenty of us who’ve enjoyed this show from start to finish, but why should you care? Yep, I understand about the freedom of speech thing, but you kill these actors reps and do them more harm than you might realize.
I feel sorry for Vartan (in a way), and wonder if he’ll be forever pigeon-holed in his ‘Alias’ character, because that’s mostly what guys and gals like you remember him for, when he needs to move on and do other things. All that time spent on ‘Alias’ and not one award given to him, not even one ‘People’s Choice’ by the fans who say they really loved his performance.
Say whatever you choose about ‘HawthoRNe’, Jada, Michael, and ALL the other cast members have “brought it on” since the show first started, but I guess that doesn’t mean anything here. To each his/her own and that’s alright with me. I hope this show goes on for another 3 years, and gains even more viewers (it already has over seas and that’s fine by me).

This is Jan. 10/11. I have been watching for the new season to start! I have watched this show from day one, I love it!! I started watching the show because Jada Smith was in it. She makes the show!!
The shows on tv today are dreadful!!!! I use to watch quite a bit of tv in the evenings but not anymore it is just trash!! Let’s keep this show going guys!!!

Those of y’all who supposedly do not watch the show, probably are the main ones who do. The show is about people who help those in need. The show is not as bad as the comments on here are. How did MEN OF A CERTAIN age get pulled and this favor bullshit OLD CONCEPT get sold and renewed?
CLEARLY this is a favor by Sony to keep Will happy- Jada way to use the studio but can you ask them to renew Men of a certain age, if you can keep this BORING silly idea on the air YOU CAN DO ANYTHING also heard they fired all the bad writers dont see a change

I loved the first season of Hawthorne! I abhorred the second season. I don’t know what they were thinking, but I don’t understand the sleezy direction the show took. I sure hope the third season can be salvaged.
EVERY SEASON was bad- the first season was a glass of MILK- B O R I N G
the second season had more ambition – season 3 turned into a bad version of a CSI episode
and ” All my Children” – WOW they really went out of the BOX – and Marc Anthony needs to eat protein his face is sunken in- does he have an eating disorder? he also has a bad case of slush mouth
That third season KILLED any chance of the audience pulling for Christina -
