Comedy Central’s live broadcast of the Rally to Restore Sanity and/or Fear drew 2 million viewers from 12:00-3:00 PM ET on Saturday and a 1.0 rating (1.1 million) among adults 18-49, quadrupling the channel’s average delivering in the time period. Online, there were 570,000 live video streams of the event on Comedy Central’s Web site, or via iPhone, iPad or Android, with more than 800,000 visitors to the Rally related sites. With numbers like that these 2 could very well get on the ticket in 2012 since the standard for political office is now tantamount to a popularity contest emanating from the world of entertainment.
Does this include C-span viewers? That’s were I watched it live.
I enjoyed it a lot, not sure it did much for the vote tomorrow… but it was fun.
Imagine how many more people would have watched if the corporate media had given it as much coverage and hype as they have to Tea Party rallies.
You’re kidding me, right? The Tea Party was the main news item for this whole entire year. It was started by Rick Santelli who works for CNBC. After that, Fox News joined the bandwagon and decided to promote it. Everything about the tea parties was negative. Sheryl Crow, Kid Rock, Ozzy Osbourne, and John Legend sang positive music at our rallies. 3 million people vs. a fringe group.
I think you misunderstood this person’s point. S/he was simply saying that it would’ve been bigger if it was better advertised, like the tea party rallies were.
tea party “fringe”??
i guess you just came out of your cave?
there are now 40 teaparty-backed govenors NOW AND 55 out of of 100 teaparty-backed state houses of government. there is now a overwhelming tea-party backed House of Rep and almost a 50/50 split in the senate with many blue dog dems now having much more company if they should want to show solidarity with the tea party values. the leftwing & the dems just lost amlost 500yrs worth of experience in this last election cycle, in particular all of the committees they were in charge of.
yeah your right, the tea party is/was fringe with no effect on last night’s election.
oh and stewart and colbert are SO INFLUENTIAL~!? those two milk-toast bone-heads simply provided entertainment as rome burned. and now the “barbarian” tea party came in to begin rebuilding old corrupt rome, much like charlemagne once rebuilt a new rome on the ruins of fallen old rome.
yeah sure sounds like “fringe-politics” to me…
I attended the rally – which was a lot of traveling from LA to DC for less than 72 hours but was well worth it. The crowd was by far the largest gathering of kind, humorous, and fun people. Would do it again in a heartbeat.
Come on, Teabaggers..let’s hear you brag about how Faux News is the top-rated cable “news” program. Did it ever occur to you that perhaps more liberal-minded people have better things to do with their evenings than sit glued to the boob tube soaking up lies and propaganda? And how about that seven percent stake in Fox’s parent company News Corp that is owned by Al-Waleed bin Talal, a muslim Saudi sheik? Was Glenn Beck too busy weeping on the air to mention that?
I congratulate all you Stewart fans who attended the rally or watched it on TV instead of campaigning for the Democrats. That would have been a waste of time.
oh please.
guess you got your news tonight from pigeons. enjoy the stone age pal. looks like your side just fumbled america.
oh and which corporation do you want to know about that funds the DNC and the far left agenda machine?
warren buffett realty, george soros Inc, Oprah Inc, or Planed Parenthood Inc? you know, 4 of the richest corps in the world?
just sayin…
Evening all. Who are the “official estimates” from?
at 84 I may have been the oldest participant along with my rollator. I am so proud of stewart and colbert. the whole xperience was sweet and civilized, couldn’t see or hear a thing but made me feel less discouraged. thanks for having the rally.
