Henry’s Crime, the film that stars Keanu Reeves, Vera Farmiga, James Caan, Fisher Stevens and Judy Greer, has been acquired for North American distribution by Maitland Primrose Group. The film will be released by Moving Pictures Film & TV. A spokesperson said the plan is to release in 10 markets in the spring, though the film might play a couple more festivals first after Henry’s Crime made its debut at the Toronto International Film Festival. The romantic comedy stars Reeves as an ambition-less toll collector wrongly accused of a bank robbery in Buffalo. In prison, he finds a street smart friend and cellmate (Caan), who becomes his partner in a real crime after they are released. Sacha Gervasi wrote the script with David White and Malcolm Venville (44 Inch Chest) directed it. Pic was financed by Mimran Schur Pictures, which produced with Company Films. Here is a scene:

That is, hand’s down, the worst trailer I have ever seen in my entire life.
It was a ‘scene’ not a trailer.
It’s not a trailer douche, it’s a scene. But I agree, bad scene to try and sell the film on.
Douche here: so it is a trailer, it’s over 2 minutes long. Just saying that the lighting is horrible even for a jail house scene and the acting is stiff as my keyboard. And, I don’t hate Keanu. I love Keanu. He’s tall. He hasn’t had a good role in a long time.
“so it is a trailer,”
As several people have told you, it is not a trailer. Dear God, you are dense.
Hey Douche, what do ya want? Oh wait, you wanted them to light Reeves with the same charitable lighting Michelle Pfeifer received in White Oleander for her jail scenes, right? THAT KIND of lighting, right? See, Douche, here’s the rub. They were ALL stopped out. What with Caan being a dinosaur and Reeves being all of almost 50 now: since you seem to be keeping score, Douche. Now, Douche, you keep holding onto the youtube advance scene above like a life raft.
I agree. That scene is terrible. Meandering, confusing – and boring. Lord, if this is the best they can offer, this film is in serious trouble.
That was an interesting scene. Of course that’s just one scene, but it looks interesting nonetheless. I’ve never understood the dislike for Keanu myself. Love him or hate him, he’s a very unique and mysterious actor, not easily defined.
Love Keanu, but wish he’d star in more mainstream movies that I’d want to see. I have low tolerance for indies. I’m more into spectacles, blockbusters, and (yes) more generic fare.
Love love love Keanu in SOMETHING’S GOTTA GIVE, THE GIFT, MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING, THE RIVER’S EDGE to name a few along with his smash blockbusters and spectacles. Many of us are excited for the next, oh yeah, BILL&TED’s!! HENRY’S CRIME will be a great date movie. Give us a scene with Vera Farmiga and Keanu Reeves. Caan is delicious!
I agree that Keanu should do some more mainstream movies. I admire the fact that he wants to do indies, but apparently the movie theaters around me don’t play them. I have not seen a movie in the theater with Keanu in it since Constantine. I was beginning to think he retired or something. Guess I’ll have to do like I’ve done for the last two or three movies and wait for it on DVD.
Vera Farmiga. Vera Farmiga. With George Clooney and now Keanu Reeves. Vera, Vera, Vera!!! We LOVE Vera. Can’t wait to see the film! And Caan.
I don’t understand the idea behind this trailer at all.
The little set of thumbnails scenes at the beginning with the title treatment kind of give it a 70′s tv show kind of feel.
The featured extended scene had an interesting philosophical quandary, but no real juice, tension, or heat. The production values looked like the lower end product of one of those film race contests.
The still scene at the end with Keanu looking similar to John Wilkes Booth made no sense, there was no context to it.
While the movie may be good, this was an epic fail.
Santa Baby, Chekov much? Think THE CHERRY ORCHARD. Namely, think Yermolai Lopakhin instead of your John Wilkes Booth dig.
Oh, and Santa? Don’t bother squeezing down my chimney. You won’t like my cookies nor my lighting. But I’m sure you already knew this just by being Santa.
It’s not a home, it’s a prison max… for…your…mind.
That was AWESOME-ly bad! Is this a movie or a Keanu cameo on a poorly-shot episode of Las Vegas?
Neither. It’s not a full length movie, or a Keanu cameo on a poorly-shot episode of Las Vegas. It’s a scene with Keanu James Caan from the movie Henry’s Crime, not an episode of Las Vegas.
… o_________o
It’s wonderful to see people work hard and accomplish something they want to do. Instead of just talking about it. They inspire many to keep pushing for their dreams as well. Kudos to Mr Reeves for continuing his work in the movie industry. Very happy for him and his new company. There is no need to hate on someone who has been successful and fortunate. Indeed he appreciates all his life’s blessings. I know many folks who are anxiously awaiting the release of this film, Henry’s Crime.
I would never bore you, “Deadline”…at least not on purpose.
Having actually seen the FILM, as well as the trailer, the murky lighting, quirky “overseeing shadow” feel, (they are in a prison, after all, and so this is actually quite ACCURATE, as far as ambience goes, for those who have never had the pleasure of visiting those confines, however briefly…) are indicative of a parallel, rather arts-inspired script that provokes. Provocationally speaking, it also provokes a rather wry, gentle sense of humour which offsets the juxtaposition of rather innocent, slightly bewildered Henry (Keanu Reeves) opposite Vera Farmiga’s character, who mows down, berates, boinks, and bamboozles him in a span of whirlwind activity which makes the two in The Cherry Orchard that much funnier.
…as trailers go, it’s intrigue, morsel, and stage whisper here. We wouldn’t want to give it away to the guards, would we? Wink. (Well worth the see, by the way…)
Such collective gaseous wisdom and insight. It begs the question.
Intrigue, morsel AND stage whisper?!? Well, slap our backs. We’re choking on a giant hairball. Does Vera’s character have a name? Probably of no import. Gaseous.
Loved the casting for Henry’s Crime (yeah, James Cann!) and I found the script very interesting. I missed seeing it screened at AFM a few weeks ago but everyone exiting the theatre seemed pleased with the film. Real glad it found distribution and I’ll most likely see it when released in Spring ’11.
Oops! I meant James Caan.
