Vampire Diaries co-creator/ executive producer Kevin Williamson is working on a new supernatural drama project, envisioned as a potential companion for the CW’s flagship vampire drama. The untitled project, which is in early stages of development at Warner Bros. TV for the CW, focuses on a group of people who investigate paranormal happenings. I hear that that Williamson’s fellow Vampire Diaries co-creator/executive producer Julie Plec is in talks to come onboard and co-write the project with him. Since there is no deal with the network and no script yet, it is not clear if the paranormal drama would make it for this upcoming pilot season. (And no, the characters from the new show won’t find their way into an episode of Vampire Diaries.) This marks the first development project under the overall deal Williamson recently signed with Warner Bros. TV.

What a total rehash. I like Peter Roth, but recycling the same old, same old is…Brilliant. Muh ha ha ha!!!
CW has a show like this already: Supernatural. Either way, pretty cool!
Isn’t there a CW show already that features people who investigate the the paranormal? Their third most popular scripted show, their biggest DVD seller…ring any bells…
Lord you would think they would at least wait for that show to go off the air first. Whats next a show thats about a Superhero who is sent to earth as a baby and raised by humans who we meet when he’s in high school?
What a great idea. I liked it even better the first time when it was called Supernatural.
“Buffy meets X-Files?” Sounds like Supernatural.
Bring back Roswell!
People who investigate paranormal happenings? The CW already airs that show. It’s called Supernatural.
Isn’t there already a show on The CW that presents itself as X-Files meets Buffy = SUPERNATURAL? I remember Eric Kripke saying it in interviews back when the show started.
This sounds cool. Love Kevin Williamson.
You mean Supernatural?
I’m sure this is more for a replacement to Supernatural when the series ends (which could be after its 7th)
That’s Supernatural Lol
Sound good..add a character like Dr. Brennan ‘Bones”. Also a character like Damon or Katherine. It should be a great new TV Series
What’s a “flagship vampire drama” on a network that has only one vampire drama? Anyone really think the CW will still be around in a couple of years?
How about a show about ex CIA agents who get married and then areboth sucked back in to the company as partners. The leads can be African american.
The Vampire Diaries is a very underrated show. It never ever does what the audience expects and surprises with the plot twists. I enjoy it and am happy Williamson is back to writing good TV again.
Sure this may sound formulaic on paper, but it’s all about the execution. Vampire Diaries sounded like a Twilight rehash, yet it is a million times better than anything in that series of films.
My question is, which Degrassi The Next Generation actress is making the CW jump next? First Shenae Grimes to 90210, then Nina Dobrev to Vampire Diaries, will it be Cassie Steele’s turn now?
Okay guys, we get it! It sounds a lot like “Supernatural”!
Geez, once was enough.
Or a junior grade FRINGE
Cassie Steele is right where she belongs: Canada. Although a pleasant enough girl, she’s what we call an “air guitar” actress: she can imitate the moves, but there’s absolutely no soul or originality to her performance. The CW already suffers from cardboard cutouts, they don’t need another.
Are you kidding? It’s not saying much, but Cassie was among the best actresses on Degrassi. How Shenae Grimes clawed her way out of there, I’ll never understand, but Cassie and Nina (and Aubrey “Drake” Graham) always had the goods.
What a great idea. I liked it even better the first time when it was called Supernatural.
Yay! They’re bringing back Freakylinks!
I love this show! I’ve been watching it for the past 6 years…I could have sworn it was called Supernatural. Guess I was wrong.
Y’all better recognize…
This sounds a lot like Kevin William’s brilliant but underrated late-90′s Dimension Horror teen treasure THE FACULTY a collaboration with fellow Weinstein Bros princeling Robert Rodriguez. I loved that movie in my teens.
It was being pitched in the trailer as “The Breakfast Club meets X-Files”. So this sounds like a similar concept but with supernatural beings instead of Body Snatcher-like aliens. I always thought it’d make a great tv series spin off like Buffy. Underrated Movie turned into Hot Series.
So Kev-Dawg, if you’re reading this take the characters from the Faculty and insert them in this. Stokely, Delilah, etc everyone.
are you kidding me? Instead of developing a new show sounding exactly like Supernatural, how about we promote Supernatural instead???
All I know is, if this gets developed, I’m not watching.
Bring back Roswell
