I am still reeling from the weekend passing of Casino Jack director George Hickenlooper, and now the Gotham papers report that Academy Award-nominated Monster’s Ball screenwriter Will Rokos is in critical but stable condition after he leaned over a subway platform and got thumped in the head by a speeding No. 2 train as it barreled into the 14th Street Station. According to the New York Post, Rokos was semi-conscious after being flung along the platform.

Such terrible news re: Rokos. God be with him and his loved ones at this time.
There has to be more to this story. No one of sound mind stands anywhere near the ledge when a train is pulling into the station. Furthermore, the sheer velocity X tonnage of a subway train will decapitate you or cause severe damage to your cranium even at moderate speeds o 10 to 15 miles per hour. All that said, I hope the guy is alright but we need clarification on what actually happened here.
I developed with Will, great, sweet guy. Prayers are with him
Will is such a wonderful, lovely man. So awful to hear this.
Wishing Will a quick and complete recovery. His kindness is matched by his extraordinary talent. Fight the good fight, WR!
Will is a writer on Southland this season. We just got one of his fantastic scripts a day before the accident. So much talent. So tragic. My heart goes out to his family.
A terrible accident has stricken my lifelong friend Will Rokos. My prayers are for him and his family. He is tough enough and stubborn enough to overcome this. I love you Will, get well soon.
Does anyone know how he is doing?
Any word on how Will is doing? His scripts for recent episodes of Southland were great and I hope he can write more…soon!
Hi – I was actually a passenger on the no.2 train that hit Will. As we came into the 14th station there was a loud bang and the train stopped. I could see a man lying on the ground who looked in a terrible way. I was so concerned for days and followed the story on the news. Great to hear that Will is recovering well…
