Nancy Savoca will direct Sorvino in the indie, about a reluctant reunion between two estranged sisters. One is on the verge of marriage; the other is on the verge of a nervous breakdown. Sorvino will be starring along with Tammy Blanchard. The other cast includes Michael Rispoli, Daphne Rubin-Vega and Patti LuPone. Savoca and Mary Tobler wrote the script; Neda Armian from Armian Pictures and Rich Guay from Cine-Si are producing.

With little more to go on than the Logline, Sounds like “Rachel Getting Married” to us.
- The Gingerales
No shock given that Neda is producing. My how the mighty fall…
It’s about time the classic NBC sitcom got it’s big screen adaptation.
Here is the official synopsis:
UNION SQUARE — a reluctant reunion of two estranged sisters. One is on the verge of marriage; the other is on the verge of a nervous breakdown. Both struggle with truths they’re hiding from each other — and from themselves.
Jenny has rejected her tumultuous family and cut off communication, seeking a more ordered life far from her roots in the Bronx. And she’s almost ready to commit to her longtime fiancé when her sister Lucy — the personification of all that Jenny has been trying to flee — surprises her at a critical time.
Lucy and Jenny’s combustible reunion brings both of them to unforeseen places, shattering and reconstructing the worlds they have both carefully constructed.
UNION SQUARE is the story of the highs and lows of life, love, and family—and a unique, fresh perspective on the surprisingly deep bond between two sisters.
“Union Square”? My old neighborhood. Hope they film in NYC. Having seen many sister fall-outs, sounds like a great storyline. Too many siblings carry around hidden buttons that the others siblings know where to push.
Mira Sorvino & Nancy Savoca from Oscar & Emmy to $75,000 straight to video movie. Nice career path.
If you’d ever worked with Mira you’d know why.
This picture makes me think of Botox as a covert alien plot to slowly wash out our humanity, one middle-aged woman at a time.
I remember Mira Sorvino, but who is that in the picture?
That is freakin’ funny.
I’ve read the script. It’s actually a good movie.
