For the first time this season, a CBS drama was not the highest rated program on Friday among adults 18-49. That honor went to ABC’s newsmagazine Primetime: What Would You Do? (1.9/6) which was recently put in the 9 PM to replace originally scheduled new drama Body of Proof. Meanwhile, Teri Hatcher’s guest spot on Smallville as Lois Lane’s mom gave the departing comic book drama (1.3/4, 3 million) a boost to a tie the season high 18-49 number it hit with its season premiere and 200th episode. Smallville was up 18% from last week in the demo, while Supernatural (0.9/3, 2.1 million) was down 18%.
CBS’ drama were all down from last week in 18-49: Medium (1.4/5, 6.9 million) by a tenth, still topping the 8 PM hour, CSI:NY (1.7/5, 10.3 million) by 15% and Blue Bloods (1.6/5, 10.5 million) down a tenth from its fast national (it was adjusted up in the finals). Both CSI:NY and Blue Bloods hit lows.
NBC’s School Pride (0.6/2) was flat, while Dateline (1.4/5) was up by a tenth. ABC’s Suppernanny (1.2/4) was flat with its season premiere last week, while Primetime was up 12% from its fast national result (it gained a tenth in the finals.) At 10 PM, 20/20 (1.6/5) finished in a tie with Blue Bloods and Dateline. For the night, ABC averaged 1.5/5, 5.6 million for its most watched Friday of the season to CBS’ 1.6/5 and 9.1 million.

Didn’t Smallville’s 200th episode 2.0 win its hour?
Yes, in the South it’s Suppernanny but north of the Mason-Dixon it’s Dinnernanny.
LOL
+1
Congratulations to Smallville. I enjoyed all the storylines in the last episode and indeed the season in general has been very enjoyable.
I’m not certain why Supernatural fell so hard. Maybe because when the season was first announced it was supposed to be “back to basics” and “back to the early years”. SN started out sort of an X-Files with brothers. People were expecting a return to that. Instead it’s now all angels and demons and … stuff.
With the success of the ABC’s newsmagazines, I hope the networks don’t give up on scripted shows on Fridays entirely. If Fridays become another Saturday, all the networks will be permanently damaged. Fight the good fight networks!
Actually, there’s not been any angels and demons this season. It’s been mainly monsters, with vampires the last couples weeks, and werewolves this week (and fairies next week).
No, I doubt people tuned into see Teri Hatcher’s appearance on Smallville.
The real guest starring brunette who had people turning in was the incredible Lindsay Hartley, who guest starred as one of Granny Goodnesses evil minions!
Hartley has legions of fans from her 9 years on the supernatural drama Passions. People needed their Theresa Lopez-Fitzgerald fix!
It’s a shame Hartley didn’t get a chance to cry on camera. No one can turn on the water works like her!
Damn, I could use a martimmy now!
ABC should just throw down a four comedy block like they did on Wednesday nights. Even if its all new shows (The Middle could anchor), who cares…just throw down the gauntlet and do a new, modern family-esque TGIF for this generation.
Fox should also come out a four comedy block mix of sitcom and the animation b-team shows. A TGIF that’s not family-oriented. I would give almost anything to have a Team America: The Series movie spin-off.
Why is a DC comics related show not in The CW’s current development grids? The fan boys obviously are watching so why not keep the momentum going with a Flash series or anything from the DC universe. Wonder Woman should air on The CW but think it would play better on a Tuesday or Thursday night. If the CW is into making money why not just have two DC comics related shows on the air. The CW has potential to have shows getting 3 million and 4 million viewers each night.
The CW has been working around the clock to find a suitable DC comics related show to ether replace Smallville or air along side it since season 4. The short lived Birds of Prey only lasted 13 episodes, the Aquaman pilot wasn’t picked up, Christopher Nolan halted the Robin series from going to production, and the heavily rumored pitches for a possible Flash and Martian Manhunter spin-offs have gone no where.
Luckily there is the Wonder Woman series in development along with a possible Blue Beetle and Sandman series coming to the small screen. But personally, I think Sandman would be better for HBO rather then the CW.
How the hell can Christopher Nolan stop anything?
Simple. He’s Christopher Nolan, one of Hollywood’s biggest Directors. He can stop almost any property he wants! LOL
On a serious note, Nolan just simply felt that the concept of the Robin series (or “The Graysons” the show’s proposed working title.) did not fit with the aims of his current Batman franchise. So Warner Bros. executive Jeff Rubinov, cancelled the development of the series.
They should find a DC property for Friday nights with a “team” of teens or twentysomethings, like whatever the DC equivalent to X-Men is. Viewers ate up the Justice League episodes. There was some DC comics film Megan Fox was supposed to be attached to that had a team. I forgot what it was.
Wonder Woman should not be on the CW. No offense. I watch way more CW programs than I should. So, I’m not dissing them, but Wonder Woman is a primo property and belongs on a real network. However, the CW should be working on getting some DC comic spinoff or something. It baffles me why they apparently aren’t doing any such development. Fridays for the CW are going to be a world of hurt once Smallville completes and the CW seem to be making no plans for how to deal with it. I don’t think anybody understands it.
“Primo property”? A woman flying an invisible plane in a bustier?
Is it 100% that Medium will be canceled? I can’t believe they’re going to throw one of their best shows of the air. I mean is Medium doing that bad? They are winning the timeslot and are getting 5-7M viewers a night on Fridays which isn’t bad….
It just sucks!
Medium should never have been moved to 8pm. It is NOT a family hour show. Medium is often very dark. I am not surprised that it is suffering at 8pm.
They’re called “Graphic Novels” now, think I’m kidding , go to the “Archie Comics” site.
School Pride needs to be cancelled. What an awful mess of a show. Its literally unwatchable, cringe-worthy schmaltz. And badly produced to boot. No wonder the EP was run off of Extreme Home Makeover. I can’t believe I tried to watch an episode. Pull the plug NBC. I haven’t seen a reality show on NBC that bad since Three Wishes.
Uh…from the producer of True Beauty. Can’t imagine why its so terrible.
My guess is NBC will be announcing its not coming back in 5,4,3,2…
NBC has always done better with scripted. They should save Friday Night Lights and at least go for quality!
Great numbers again for Smallville!
comment on deadlaine hollywood are monitored?.?so don’t go off topic, don’t? ?mpersonate anyone, don’t get your facts wrong, and don’t bore me.
well since you cant spell i dont think you are a moderator…and no one is going to listen to you.
The thing I find most disturbing about School Pride – having been in all aspects of education for more than 35 years – is that there is absolutely NO THOUGHT given to what happens after the cast and crew leave. They are always giving spectacular technology to the school – do they provide an IT person to train and fix that technology for the next 10 years?
They also seem to spent an inordinate amount of money and time on the sports programs. I am certainly not against school sports, but if the aim of the show is to improve the Academic prospects for the students, then all the effort should be put there.
I was really tickled on the last show that they constructed a “Snack Shack” for the football field. I’m sure the school will have the resources to buy fresh fruit and veggies after the crew leaves.
It is sad that I must agree that this show is unwatchable and the fixes are unsustainable.
Poorly thought out and poorly executed. Time for it to end.
I saw one of the schools in California first hand having volunteered at one of the LA area schools
and they definitely fix them up “for camera”, paint was peeling off walls, some areas were not complete, stuff was incomplete and not working. The cheats were unbelievable. And it was just left that way. It is just sad. The show was poorly executed, run badly, overproduced sappy cliches and underproduced actual improvements. I heard producers comments too that week and let me tell you they were not sincere in the slightest in seeing true improvement. They wanted crying on camera! I guess as someone who works in TV and film myself I should not have been so naive to think there was such a thing as a show that might be doing good but clearly School Pride is just a complete joke. Their crew was nice- and seemed to be working their asses off but the producers were a nightmare and there was just not even close to enough time to execute on improvements. And no plan. The crew was always talking amongst themselves about how the producers just had no plan at all. And it shows. The show is a mess. Those executives seemed terrible. I don’t think they made very many episodes so it is likely winding down and I can’t imagine it would be brought back. NBC may be stupid but not that stupid.
Blue Bloods: saw an episode off my dvr last night, and am pleasantly surprised. The show has a grittiness (for net) that’s kind’ve refreshing in a throwback way. Not perfect, but way more grounded in reality than some of the other CBS shows, like Five-O and Defenders, which are so light they sometimes threaten to float right out of my tv.
Medium belongs at 9 or 10 pm. Its silly to put it on so early; look at how well Mentalist does at 10 pm. And maybe CBS should be looking for a Ghost Whisperer spin off; Melinda as a teen ghostwhisperer or even a teen Charmed could fly in an 8 pm time slot, especially once Smallville bows out next year.
