This is a throwback to the dog days of summer: CBS’ all-rerun Monday lineup dominated the original competition last night. The network’s comedy reruns – Two And A Half Men (3.0/8), How I Met Your Mother (2.7/8), Rules Of Engagement (2.4/6) and Mike & Molly (2.3/6) – ranked as the 4 highest-rated programs on the night among adults 18-49. With a Hawaii Five-0 repeat (1.9/5) also winning its 10 PM slot, CBS easily topped the night in 18-49 (2.4/6) and total viewers (8.6 million).
ABC’s Dancing with the Stars spinoff Skating with the Stars (1.2/3) dived 50% from its mediocre premiere behind Dancing’s performance finale last week. In another CMA tie-in, ABC aired the CMA Country Christmas special (1.4/4) from 9:30-11 PM, following a 90-minute Skating.

With no Dancing and CBS in repeats, NBC, Fox and the CW’s originals posted ratings increases. NBC’s Chuck (2.0/6, 6.2 million) was up 18% from last week to match its season high in 18-49 and hit a new season high in total viewers. The fall finale of The Event (1.9/5) was up 12%, while Chase (1.6/4) was up 12%. Following a House repeat (1.6/4) a new Lie to Me (2.2/6, 6.3 million) on Fox was up 29% to post season highs in adults 18-49 and total viewers.
The CW’s lineup of Gossip Girl and 90210 drew the network’s largest Monday audience this season. Gossip Girl (1.5/4 in 18-34) was up 15% in the demo from its last original 2 weeks ago.

I know Paul Lee’s stength is supposed to be marketing but unless he shakes things up at ABC this money-bleeding Skating With The Stars debacle is only going to be the tip of the iceberg (pun intended). ABC’s midseason shows this year are a real bunch of potentially similar underachievers and yet it’s unclear what he’s done to get things on track.
I’m sure everything would be up if the competition was a lot weaker.
“No Ratings With The Stars” is the most amateurish show I’ve seen in… ? From Dick Button holding up one number and saying another, to the no-name host then mixing-up that mix-up after the commercial and then flubbing the name of a skater, to the (apparently unlit) female judge fading completely into the shadows and getting lost against the background, the entire episode was a joke. I was expecting (hoping?) Ashton Kutcher would pop out and say the thing was a punk.
This just goes to show you that NBC should move shows like the event to other nights and how brutal monday is with all networks going full force. There are other nights, aren’t there?
Huh?
Even with zero competition The Event was a dud. This show is done.
Completely agree. I stopped watching two weeks ago. I just said “I’m done” five minutes before the last episode I saw ended. The plot twists are so damn ridiculous they are insulting to any viewer with a working brain. Just the stupid ways they find to keep characters within the show are just…wow. Wow in a horribly speechless way. Look forward to this show being cancelled after one season because really, if FlashForward, a show I actually enjoyed, wasn’t good enough to merit a second season, this show doesn’t either.
90210′s Aryan Gays had their first kiss.
Gossip Girl – really dug the use of Eminem’s SPACE BOUND. Its not even a single yet but its been my favorite song off the new album. Great pick Ladies. Now why not bring Mischa Barton over for a Katie Cassidy-like villianess for a few episodes.
90210 Had the gay kiss. That hot guy Trevor Donovan who is straight, killed it! Bravo!
