EXCLUSIVE: Veteran talk show host Sally Jessy Raphael is looking to return to television and will chronicle her quest for another TV gig in half-hour comedy mockusoap I’m Still Sally. Raphael is expected to talk about her new project, which has not been set up at a network, during her appearance on the Oprah Winfrey Show tomorrow. Described as Dirty Jobs meets Curb Your Enthusiasm meets The Comeback, the semi-scripted I’m Still Sally “also stars Sally’s husband Karl, her young gay assistant Micah, and her sassy housekeeper Patricia, all of whom she abuses relentlessly.” Following the end of her syndicated talk show Sally‘s 19-year run in 2002, Raphael did a stint on Hollywood Squares and co-starred on the fifth season of The Surreal Life but has been largely out of the spotlight for the past 5 years. On Oprah, she will appear alongside fellow veteran talk shows hosts, including Phil Donahue, Geraldo Rivera, Ricki Lake and Montel Williams.
TV Editor Nellie Andreeva - tip her here.

Is this really and truly a good move for dear Sally? I LOVED her old TV talk show, but times since have been a-changin’ …..
Nice to see Sally updating her look with a sweet Bieber cut.
Sounds like it’ll suck.
Oh, good, Lord! Where does it end?
If you support this idea, you hate TV.
YES!! Go Sally!! Your legions of fans have missed you Sally!!
Sally on her old show was without energy or enthusiasm, irresponsible in dealing with serious issues and incredibly ill informed about almost everything she approached. While Maury Povich may well be the most bankrupt in ethics (“When did you know your husband was cheating?” “When I smelled his penis” and Montel hands down as the most unprincipled whore, Sally was simply a blithering amateur. Now, in her 70′s, there isn’t a syndicator who would care let alone commit. This is just her pool husband’s PR fantasy, will never happen.
I’m going to file this one in the “Who Gives a Shit?” folder.
Way to go Sally! Love her!
NO WAY! Sally’s coming back? All the haters on here should remember how awesome she is – and I bet if she did comedy she’d rock the house!
somewhere, Larry Sanders is spinning in his grave.
What does (the still alive) “Larry Sanders” have to do with this?
“Abuses”? That’s a loaded term that either misrepresents the show or was used too casually causing a good idea to seem terrible. In fairness to Jessy, Nellie needs to explain herself.
Classic lines coming from the comments. Yes, Sally was an 80′s ghoul all the way, triggering memories of whipping Doritos at the tv when Geraldo moralized to skinheads, etc. , on after school television. Maybe she should consider rapping instead of this concept
Has her face moved since 2002?
Nellie, she didn’t co-star on The Surreal Life…she was a guest star on a few episodes of a few different seasons, hosting an in-house talk show with the houseguests/stars about their behavior.
Where did the red glasses go Sally? Don’t listen to the nay-sayers why were probably never your fan base to begin with. We LOVE you Sally and it’s a breath of fresh air to think of you returning to TV in any capacity. You are sharp tongued, whitty and feRless and we can’t wait for the pilot. Good luck on Oprah.
I saw Sally’s video on Funny or Die it was hilariousss. She would be great on this type of show. I’m excited to see it, why not? Sally is a gem.
I had a run-in with Sally back in the ’80s when she was operating out of New Haven CT. She was a bitch and acted like she was Queen of the World then.
Sounds like she still is.
And she looks horrible in that pic.
That sally
No one ever was or ever will be as good as Sally was on Talknet radio! I miss her sensitive, caring, informative conversations with many, many listeners. She’d discuss her travels and provide insight & guidance for those with very serious problems. Thoughtful people, such as Ellen DeG., generally make great comedians so I’m hoping the best for Sally. (She could do a superb travel guide show, too, if she wants to do something fun but more informative than comedy…she’s a smart lady! Her age would be a big plus there because we seniors would love practical tips for travelling.)
We’re glad that Sally will be back on t.v. We NEED people like her. She’s caring, practical, funny and full of interesting stories. It would be refreshing to have her shows again. I remember tearing when she had the shows that reunited lost loved ones. She just has a very warm engaging way. Love her wit!
Sally we love you and want more of you.
