This is the first trailer for the film Cowboys & Aliens from Universal Pictures and DreamWorks Pictures. Directed by Jon Favreau, it stars Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford. Joined by an arsenal of top moviemakers — Steven Spielberg, Ron Howard, Brian Grazer, Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, Favreau takes audiences into the Old West, where a lone cowboy leads an uprising against a “terror from beyond our world”. The release date is July 29, 2011.

Wow. Looks phenomenal! So glad Daniel Craig is in this over Downey Jr. He fits the era much more than Downey would have. Hopefully this will remind younger audiences of why Harrison Ford was the ultimate superstar for several decades. Cannot wait!
If only the title was more in line with the film’s subject.
Long before the comic book Cowboys and Aliens was released, Heavy Metal magazine serialized an Adult Comic Fantasy by John Findley that shares some themes (Aliens & Cowboys, but there’s also magicians.) I have always wished Texarcana could become a movie, or animated in one of the Heavy Metal films (and will continue to do so.) For now, this one will have to do.
You can read Texarcana online here: http://www.texarcana.com/
Feels just like a clint Eastwood film except for the vfx.
Looks amazing.
Red Dead Dawn (video game) will be next to hit the big screen…Cowboys and zombies. You heard it here first…Or I could be wrong.
you are
Somber much? That trailer was no fun…
My thought as well; wrong tone. Playing it so straight and earnest is a mistake. Though counter-intuitive, that actually makes it more ridiculous.
Play it too jokey and you get Wild Wild West.
Looks incredible … who doesn’t love Daniel Craig, Favreau does know how to direct a good film with effects, and I love the chance to see Harrison Ford in a good role again!
That trailer’s putting my ass in a theater seat!
Me too!
Can’t wait.
I was kind of into it until Ford showed up. My brain immediately went, “Oh, neat! Harrison’s playing dress-up in this one!” Sigh.
Yes, heaven forbid the biggest movie star of the century “dress up” . You just summed up everything that’s sad about movie biz internet chatter. Too much focus and awareness of everything but the movies themselves. This could potentially be one of those good times at the theater that comes along only every 5 or 10 years. Just say thank you and buy a ticket.
Wow, second bad trailer of the day…
Less is more folks. What happened to all the good trailer editors?
You can have all the good trailer editors in the world but if the creative advertising producer doesn’t like…
You can have all the good trailer editors in the world but if the creative advertising producer doesn’t like…..then it ain’t gonna happen.
Awesome.
This concept has finally come to fruition after years of attempts to do something similar. I like the cast and Daniel Craig (at the height of Cinematic recognition) is a great choice. This is actually Harrison Ford’s “2nd Western”…He did “The Frisco Kid” starring Gene Wilder in 1979. The less said about this the better. The cool thing about Cowboys & Aliens” is that it appears to appeal to both the older (I’ll wait and see it on DVD/Blu-Ray) Generation as well as the younger (more likely to be there for opening weekend) Generation.
Don’t be surprised if the Western-Lovers come out of the woodwork to see this!
Glad I’m not standing up because I just got a boner.
This is one unimpressive trailer…
Looks pretty f-ing cool. Good to see Harrison Ford in a western – looks like he’s suited for it.
Disappointing… and after Iron Man 2 my faith in Favreau is shot!
Agree with mikey that Iron man 2 sucked balls. I wonder if Favreau is going to put himself in this movie too just so he can have scenes with Olivia Wilde like he did with Scarlet Johannsen in Iron Man2.
Hey, the more Happy Hogan on the silver screen, the better! He was my favorite character in the comics, it’s a shame he’s such a minor player in the movies.
Great trailer, but Harrison Ford looks so frail. I was sincerely afraid he was going to fall down and brake his hip.
damn. with that title I thought it was going to be a lighthearted romp, not this somber exercise.
You mean like WILD WILD WEST? Think that’s the tone they’re trying to avoid at all costs, esp in the marketing campaign…
You don’t hire Daniel Craig for a “comedic romp.”
Ford’s back in a hat! Can’t argue with that. Looks amazing.
That ridiculous wrist contraption gave me some unwelcome flashbacks to “Wild Wild West.”
Indiana Jones AND James Bond?? Finally!!
Um…Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade?
I guess you’ve missed Indy3.
I’ve always loved this title and eagerly awaited the movie. But this looks just plain silly. for the movie to take itself so seriously was a gigantic mistake. I laughed out loud at this trailer. And not in a good way.
Looks lame.
Not digging this. Ford looks wooden, stale, the whole thing looks stupid.
i’m hoping there are a few people out there (previous producers who lost the project) who are just cringing….
