TV Guide Network has greenlit its first original reality docu-soap, The Nail Files, created and executive produced by Jersey Shore co-creator/executive producer Sally Ann Salsano through her 495 Prods. The Nail Files stars Katie Cazorla, a 32-year-old budding entrepreneur who juggles owning and operating Hollywood’s fast growing celebrity-filled nail salon, The Painted Nail, and her relationship with 52-year-old Grammy-winning music producer Walter Afanasieff. “The producers of Jersey Shore have once again come up with a highly entertaining, non-scripted series capturing the fascinating lives of colorful individuals, this time against the backdrop of Hollywood,” said TV Guide’s EVP Diane Robina. Added Salsano, “I love working with entertaining, raw, everyday people with some sass and a point of view.”

Why does that logline sound like every other reality tv show logline? I wish reality TV would create something more ground breaking and entertaining than the same ol’ same, day after day. Break the mold people!!! Reality does not have to equal unoriginal.
Love it! Finally a woman who works during the day, unlike all those vapid real housewives who just mindlessly spend their husband’s money or the Kardashians who are just famous for being famous. A woman who started and runs her own successful small business? As far as I’m concerned, this is breaking the mold in reality television.
I am excited for something else besides fighting housewives, people from New Jersey and hair salon shows, I am into the whole hollywood gossip scene, magazines about the latest trends and fashion so this looks like a fun new take on it. I’ll watch
Yawn.
By the way, TV Guide’s first ever original docu-soap was MAKING NEWS: Texas Style, about the trials and tribulations of a local news station in Midland-Odessa, which ran for thirteen episodes in the summer of 2007, to be followed by MAKING NEWS: Savannah Style the following summer. The series was produced by Nick Davis Productions. Damn good show.
Leave it to the brilliant producer of Jersey Shore to create another groundbreaking show… NOT! This is another copycat and another snoozefest. I guess thinking inside the box is her company’s motto. Rehash of another rehash. JUNK!
