On the heels of NBC’s sophomore comedy Community hitting a season high last week, the network has ordered 2 additional episodes of the Sony TV-produced comedy starring Joel McHale, bringing the total season order to 24. Last Thursday, the Halloween-themed episode of Community averaged a 2.4 rating in 18-49 and 5.6 million viewers overall.

YAY! It’s really hitting it’s stride! I hope it’s around for a long time! Love the show!
Tasty!
But really – only 2 eps ordered? That either says “we have just a little fiath in you” or “we just cancelled something else and need more stuff”. What if “Community” had a season-ending ep that was some sort of cliff-hanger?
A two-show order is nice but it is may also send mixed messages.
I think an extra 2 episodes order is a REALLY good sign. How could it not be? It’s two more episodes beyond the original full-season order of 22! It shows people on NBC are satisfied with its numbers, have faith in the show and want more originals to keep the momentum going.
Finally, a good decision comes from that god-forsaken network.
Last year it had 25 episodes. I hope this gets a 3rd season.
Wow! Two whole episodes!!!
I wouldn’t be breaking out the champagne just yet. NBC really wants to put this show out of its misery but the only other option they have is to run a test pattern so a two-episode order it is.
Shazam, that might be the most nonsense post I’ve read in a long time. There is not a single thing to back up your statement. They want to cancel a show so they … ordered an additional two episodes to bring it past the normal broadcast television 22 episode season?
Literally, there’s absolutely no way this could be spun as a negative.
Isn’t two more episodes than a standard season order a good thing? Sounds like NBC is putting some muscle behind it. And they should. Aside from Modern Family, it’s the funniest thing on network tv (soon to be joined by Parks and Rec, right?)
This show makes outsourced and The Office look like bums. I’d rather watch cougartown than outsourced (and note that i don’t smoke pot)
More Community, how can you go wrong with that? Love it. Keep up the good work!
Considering that ‘Community’ has been considered to be ‘on the bubble,’ this is definitely positive news. This is my favorite sitcom right now, and I would hate to lose it to the ratings might of ‘The Big Bang Theory.’ This proves that NBC has faith in the show. Good for them.
Another supersized production run for the funniest and most original comedy on network television. 24 episodes is rare these days – the show is doing great and keeps getting better. Love it
Community has the greatest casting director of all time.
Too bad people that come to this site CAN’T READ.
How about we read the WHOLE article and then comment, and if we don’t understand it the first time around, how about reading it a FEW MORE TIMES.
It clearly says “the network has ordered 2 additional episodes…bringing the total season order to 24.”
Community is a great sitcom, NBC should be proud. The Halloween episode is almost as good as last seasons legendary Paintball episode.
I thought community was awesome, untill the halloween episode, way overdone, and the following have been the same, wish they would leave good TV alone. Like parks and recs… that was a funny show
