In one of the first series orders for Ben Silverman’s IAC-based company Electus, VH1 has handed out a 10-episode straight-to-series commitment to Mob Wives, a reality series created and executive produced by Jennifer Graziano and produced by Electus and The Weinstein Co. This marks the first collaboration between Silverman and the Weinsteins. It also marks a new push in TV for The Weinstein Co., which has signed an exclusive deal with Graziano’s JustJenn Prods. to create original reality and scripted series. JustJenn will be based in TWC’s offices in New York and L.A. ”All of us at TWC loved Mob Wives, especially Harvey, and our enthusiasm wasn’t only for the project, but for Jennifer. She is a bright creative talent whose relationships and marketing experience will help us move more aggressively into television,” said David Glasser, COO of The Weinstein Co. The company’s TV series portfolio includes Lifetime’s Project Runway and On the Road with Austin & Santino. Mob Wives chronicles the lives of four struggling “allegedly” associated women who have to pick up the pieces and carry on after their husbands or fathers do time for Mob-related activities. Production beginning after Thanksgiving for a tentative debut in March 2011. Electus Distribution, the studio’s international distribution arm established in 2010 in conjunction with Shine International, will have international distribution rights across all platforms.

well, you know, “the mob” likes nothing more than publicity. and for that publicity to come from the wives. i guess the elimination rounds will be a surprise for everybody. or maybe the prize is turning state’s evidence. either way, good fun for all.
Is there another ethnicity out there you guys could pick from and showcase their lowest denominator? Maybe not though, they are pretty hilarious.
What the hell is next? Convict wives? Now we are glamorizing the wives of men that are mobsters? Come on. Reality TV is totally out of control. This topic should be left to fiction, not so-called reality.
Disgusting…….
Sure, pay the wives of these criminals. Should rack up some very positive goodwill with these murderers.
I have a better idea … why not intersperse what OC wives are going through with what the VICTIM’s families are going through? The victims are the true face of organized crime.
Oh, yeah, can’t have too much reality in reality TV.
Murder and violence is not something to glamorize or glorify. Ever.
Ben = money
Which mob is the show dealing with? Russian Jewish or Italian. It is time to move away from the Italian enough is enough.
Blame it on Jersey Shore.
Thats BULL SH*T my boy MIKE GORDON from sony came up with that. I know he shot it with a guy from MTV name David and David put Jen on to cast it. Wow that is so funny how they pushed the BLACK guy out the picture
@Marlon
Why are you shocked?! This happens all the time in this business. Mike ahould’ve done what I do and stick to content they can’t get without him because the first chance they get to steal they will. It’s not going to succeed anyway so don’t fret. It’s really a crappy idea. I’m surprised Harvey has anything to do with trash like this. Times must be getting tough or he’s losing his touch.
Since this “Jen” has no prior credits, or talent, can we assume she is the sacrificial Manicotti for this project? Stick a guinea on the slate to deflect the negative commentary. F**K HARVEY.
i support this show!!!!!!!!!=)
WTF? Seriously? What bottom-feeder D-girl greenlit this steaming pile of rat feces???
I think this will be an interesting show because these women can take us into a world that everyone wants to know about!!! and if they highlight the aftermath of what happens when a family member goes to jail it will make for very good TV….. I support this show
Now Thats Gangster!!!!! Good pick For Harvey and his crew
Harvey and Bob sleep with the fishes.
I think Victoria Gotti will be suing for infringement. Either that or somebody is going to wake up with a horse’s head in his bed.
I know this show is going to be a HUGE hit! I know the girls that will appear on the show and trust me it is going to be nothing like Growing up Gotti I am sure of this.
@Marlon
Believe me when i tell you. The creator has to be the connected the person. Otheriwse how could she get the wives to believe she wasnt throwing them under the bus. To Marlon. If you think a bunch of mob wives were going to entrust this show to someone who wasnt one of them your nuts. Not that they could trust the “creator” anyways, but come on. Mike Gordon might of had the idea, but no way he was going to get commitments from any mobed up women to actually go with it.
As far as for Harvey, he is a NY guy and the NY jews always have been infactuated with the NY Italian mob. Thats the bottom line. I am sure it will all wash out in the end with all of them making a ton of money. And then the Shake downs begin. Good luck to all. You forget these guys are in prison, not dead. And when they get out, they have to make a living too…The only way they remember.
Another reality show? This better be good.
I love it! It is genius! It’s the funniest shit I’ve ever seen and I want more! Fabulous premise, brilliant drama, so voyeuristic and satisfying in a guilty way. I’m down for season 2; bring me more!
Where do I start? Very entertaining and disturbing at the same time. We should blame ourselves. We love shit like Jerry Springer, Jersey Shore, Mob Wives… if we didnt watch, they wouldnt put it on air. Drama, drama, drama.. Low lifes with nothing better to do with their lives. we love wathing them because it makes us feel better about ourselves.
btw, they say they are doing the show because they want to break away from the mob life. hahahaha… every word out of their mouths is ‘do you know who i am’?, ‘im the real mobsta’, ‘my family will fuck you up’, etc.. get a real life ladies. but in the meantime, continue with the drama, it is your payday. finally your own payday… based upon your family’s life which you want to denounce.
