EXCLUSIVE: Harvey and Bob Weinstein’s restructured The Weinstein Company has been gearing up slates, and hiring veterans to run the TWC and Dimension film labels. Now, they are about to fill the void in marketing, and the choice is a surprise: I’m told that the Weinsteins are hiring Bladimiar A. Norman, who gave notice last week and stepped down from his post as Head of Digital Marketing at PR agency 42 West. Norman, who held posts in interactive marketing at Paramount, Warner Bros and Sony Pictures Entertainment, will come in as vice president. Another exec might be added, but I’m told he’ll spearhead marketing for both TWC and Dimension pictures, reporting to David Glasser and the brothers. The Weinsteins recently hired Donna Gigliotti as TWC production president, Brad Luff as Dimension production president, and banker David Hutkin to oversee a new funding unit. In his 42 West post, Norman was digital marketing advisor for 127 Hours, Black Swan and the awards campaign for last year’s Oscar winner, The Hurt Locker. While at Paramount, he was involved in digital marketing initiatives and awards campaigns for such Paramount Vantage pics as Babel and There Will Be Blood.

oh good god this will never last. they will never put up with Bladimiars antics both in and OUT of the office.
TWC only has room for two big egos, not three.
LOL, did they do a background check at all?
Other than his selection of a headshot for this post, Blad is as smart as they come.
The state of TWC marketing is still a mess but this is a smart move on their part.
Norman is going to run marketing for TWC?? Mike/Nikki has got to be joking. This guy was an asst at Sony, manager at WB home video, and a jr. party planner/web guy at Paramount Vantage — when they could not launch a movie and went out of business. And Amy Powell had him canned as soon as she saw him coming. Wow, TWC must really be having problem finding talented and experienced people to come on board and paying them what they are worth to….
A savvy move for TWC — smart to pick somebody with a strong background in digital, which has become so much more important in film marketing. Bladimiar is an out-of-the-box choice but a smart one, and from what I hear a great guy. Not sure from this post whether he is actually going to run the dept or not, but I like seeing TWC make some unexpected choices for a change.
Great choice. I’ve worked with Blad for over 8 years and I know for a fact that he turned down the opportunity to work along side Amy and it was his choice to leave Paramount, not Amy or anyone else.
TF…
Digital pr is but a small component of digital MARKETING. he was clueless when I dealt with him on the few fundamentals of marketing a film. Bob and Harvey use their VP’s as assistants where few make any impact, I assume that aspect and the very low salary that was offered secured Norman.
stop hating and go back to work
This is a dynamic choice. Blad is a brilliant marketing executive – he did a fantastic job at Paramount and built a great division at 42West. He is an inspiration to work with and TWC are lucky to have him.
Little bit of revisionist history here. Like a few before him, Blad chose to leave Paramount rather than work for Ms. Powell. Lots of jealousy on this thread. Pretty sad.
I’ve worked with Blad – he’s smart and resourceful and wholly dedicated. TWC is lucky to have him.
I’m still laughing and I read about it this morning.
the pickings must have been slim.
not a hater of Blad, just shocked TWC couldn’t find someone more creative and qualified.
This has to be a joke. Blad has never left a company on good terms, but he has once again managed to smooth-talk his way into a new opportunity. It’s only a matter of time before he burns every bridge in Hollywood. The guy is dishonest, lazy and phony as they come. I would bet money that all of the positive comments above were either posted by Blad himself or by one of his cronies. I really wouldn’t put it past him…
Hell to the yes!
I didnt realize there were so many jealous people out there. Blad will do great and TWC is lucky to have him.
I’m sure Vlad will continue the tradition of all past TWC marketing executives.
Blad must have been a smart and easy choice to take the marketing reins at TWC. His work and success speaks for itself. He will be a great asset to the company.
“…He is an inspiration to work with and TWC are lucky to have him.” “…TWC is lucky to have him.” “…Blad will do great and TWC is lucky to have him.” It’s really cool and totally natural how three completely different people end their good comment with the exact same sentence.
Hey all — Let’s be real here. Blad is a smart guy and good at his job I am sure, regardless of whether you like him or not. TWC’s marketing is truly run by Harvey and he makes all the decisions, so it was natural that they chose someone quite junior for this position. Harvey wants someone to implement his plan and tell him how to market his movies using Twitter.
Weinstein company – Great HIRE! Blad is someone that I’ve known for a long time and whether he was an assistant, agreed with the entire political hierarchy at Paramount or has a couple enemies…who cares? It wouldn’t be the Entertainment industry now would it? Blad – I adore you and think Weinstein and the movie industry at large is happy to see this move! Al the best!
Blad is hard working, very bright, and will do a great job for them.
Good hire by TWC.
Blad’s a great guy, extremely intelligent and will be very successful! Congratulations B you deserve it!
what, Guy Kaiser Endore was unavailable?
Bad choice. He’s cluless. A complete mess. Blad is bad.
He couldn’t even market a party correctly.
I worked with Blad when he was a coordinator at Sony. He was shifty, underhanded and didn’t produce. The only thing I recall him being good at was talking. When he left, everything he was responsible for was a mess. I’ve heard he’s burned bridges wherever he goes, so good luck with him. In short time, I am certain Blad will cycle out of this job…like the others before.
What a fantastic and innovative move! The future of marketing is online and that’s what Blad knows best.
