Two and out: A&E has pulled the plug on the docu-reality series The Hasselhoffs after two episodes. The series, which followed the former America’s Got Talent judge as he helps his daughters break into the entertainment business, drew a paltry 718,000 viewers for its premiere and dropped to 505,000 viewers in the second episode.

well that’s rude…
I can’t believe that this would even be a match for A & E, let alone, its a desperate measure for ratings. Or did I just state the obvious?
Yikes!
M-A
He was the first contestant to get knocked off Dancing with the Stars and now this. Bad year for The Hoff. The show seemed way too scripted, not enough “reality”. Too bad.
The Hoff is off!
Haa HA haaa HA ha!!!
Why did they even go ahead with this nonsense in the first place??? No one cares about the problems of washed up “celebrities.” And a show about David Hasselhoff was really scrapping the bottom of the barrel. Hopefully this will be the beginning of the end of these types of crappy shows.
because its tough to listen to pitches all day and have the balls to pick a concept that might work
fear of losing their shitty jobs and going for celebs- that show was unwatchable and the bad VO was so slow and boring
I stumbled across this notice on the spot here.
Thank God it was canceled.
Enough with the reality b.s. that’s faked anyway.
Enough with the idiotic nepotism without talent.
Want successful tv programming?
Look at the great storytelling on BURN NOTICE, MAD MEN, BOARDWALK EMPIRE,
JUSTIFIED, anything by Milch — including John From Cincinatti, which I still
don’t understand its cancelling at all — and obviously THE WIRE for that matter.
Guess what America?
It’s not major broadcast network tv. It’s cable.
But he’s the most popular entertainer in Germany. This show has to be transferred to Germany it should be taped there and air there only. You can’t cancel Mitch Buchannon he’s Mr. Baywatch he’s Mr. Popular. Didn’t any of you ever watch Baywatch and the marvelous Baywatch Nights? And what about Knight Rider? When Hasselhoff starred in it the show was a big hit for NBC. When they rebooted it the show stunk and it was canceled very fast. Why? Because it didn’t star The Hoff. Onward to Germany with this show it’s the perfect market for it.
Are you German? I don’t think so. I am, and yes, The Hoff was HUGE over here decades ago. I was a big fan, too. But why do (US-)people still think he’s a big deal in Germany? Nobody cares about The Hoff any more. Yes, he’s on tour in Germany in 2011, but let’s just say that the tickets aren’t top sellers.
I watched Gene Simmons Family Jewels all day – and the Anne Frank episode was very moving and emotionally charged (and educational even for those who may not have known) … within 20 seconds of Hoff I knew it wasn’t the show for me. The ads, pretty creative … the actual ‘life’ … not so much.
Biggest entertainer in Germany? Really?!! Obviously you’re taking some serious shit. That show wouldn’t even make it to air in Germany. Ok maybe at around 3 in the night in between sex ads ( and I’d probably watch it when I come home drunk anyway).
I never disliked “The Hoff”, I feel a little sorry for the big fella.
Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus!
That’s the bad news. The good news? He just got a gig endorsing “Hamburger Helper.”
back to work, leno’s monologue isn’t writing itself.
This is absolutely not true and I have no idea how this lie has become part of German entertainment lore. I have lived in Germany for the last 10 years and I can tell you that he is not popular!
I want to see the reality show featuring The Hoff and K.I.T.T. moving in together at a retirement community. Ratings gold!
I guess he’ll go back to getting wasted and eating burgers off the floor. Maybe The Young and the Restless will take him back. Please… no more lame reality tv before American tv gets dumber. What’s next…a show about the kids of the teenage boy from Mr. Belvedere running an aluminum siding business? Is the daughter of the cousin of the film editor of Perfect Strangers trying to launch a career in taking driver’s license photos? Stardom awaits!
Who… ?
@Groucho That is a great idea and could see it on Nick at Nite. Seriously, it could be pretty damn funny if written right. Think Scott Bakula’s (sp) character on Men of a Certain Age meets Hancock.
