EXCLUSIVE: On second thought, no bunny jokes. But Warner Brothers has bought the new spec script The Rabbit – “think Midnight Run”, I’m told — written by Micah Barnett. Chris Tucker is starring and Dan Lin (Sherlock Holmes ) is producing. The sale was handled by WME.
Editor-in-Chief Nikki Finke - tip her here.

A) glad someone is still buying, especially this late in the year.
B) why does it have to be Warners though? They buy everything, this is just another project to sit on a shelf and keep their jrs. busy doing notes.
C) who gives a shit about Chris Tucker? No one and I mean NO ONE is waiting for his “BIG COMEBACK!”
I’m waiting for that comeback, actually. Along with the rest of his target demographic.
Speak for yourself hater! I love me some Chris Tucker. Especially now with comedies going more towards the R rated themes. Tired of Ben Stiller and Jack Black farces.
Another spec sale. Nice!
Read it, liked it– until I heard Chris Tucker’s name here. Ugh.
Yeah, I’m with you Deuce — which part does he play? The Counterfeiter — who has like ten lines of dialogue?
Or the Magician — who is described as “a physical specimen” and is always in super control of himself? The Magician is at like Han Solo and Bond combined.
Can’t see how Tucker’s attachment matters if it’s the former… And if it’s the latter, well… That’s like saying Tucker is going to be the new Jason Bourne… It doesn’t track.
Not that The Rabbit is as dark and humorless as Bourne — but it’s certainly not a comedy. A few quips and smart ass rejoinders aside, this is strait action with a little fluff — but not comedy.
Sorry, I must have been sleeping. Chris Tucker is relevant again??
I care about Chris Tucker and glad that he is actually gonna make a movie. He is hilarious.
Is Chris Tucker still around?
i saw this dude do stand-up at random in a comedy club just a few months ago. he was hilarious. looks like kicking back with your millions does wonders for a guy.
“who gives a shit about Chris Tucker? No one and I mean NO ONE is waiting for his “BIG COMEBACK!”
You’d be surprised. There are plenty of people especially in the black community who would love to see Chris Tucker back on the big screen in something other than another Rush Hour movie. That said, this seems like the right direction for him to take as an actor. A project that doesn’t demand him to do a whole lot other than his usual shtick, which will work in a midnight run setting.
Chris Tucker comes off as the “reluctant superstar”.
Most funny people would kill to have his Box Office success (ie, the “Rush Hour” franchise that also turned Brett Ratner into Hollywood’s flavor-of-the-month director) and the occasional critical gem (Tucker’s turn as Beaumont Livingston in Tarantino’s “Jackie Brown” was solid) and use such accrued mojo either to:
1) do great, consistent work and leave an enduring legacy
or
2) start a producing empire (see Smith, Will)
Tucker, though, it seems is content to take his $20 million per movie payday (when I read that was his salary I choked on my arugula!) and return home to Atlanta. I guess his outlook is simple: he likes making Hollywood money and getting out of dodge.
Can’t knock him for such decisions but they seem like curious choices. More power to him.
He’s keeping fans wanting more. He’s protecting his brand. Robert De Niro, Al Pacino and Eddie Murphy (just to name a few) could take pointers from him.
Yeah- where has he been. I can’t remember seeing him in anything for a while. I do like him as an actor though.
The IRS has done what Chris’ agents couldn’t. What a fuckin’ loser.

“The IRS has done what Chris’ agents couldn’t. What a fuckin’ loser”
At 20 million or more a picture compared to what you probably make I would say YOU are probably more of a loser than him. You bring up a story from July just to say something negative about the guy. What a loser!
The fact that he made $20 a picture and still owes the IRS $11 million says what a dumbass he is.
And yes the story is from July. It would take about that long for Chris to realize he’s pissed away the money and to take his unfunny, fat ass back to work.
Now, it’s probably time for you to go and fetch Chris’ cheesesteak grape soda.
Haha! You’re waaay too angry….and the “grape soda” remark isn’t cool, just fyi!
But it’s good to see someone who was at one time considered a rising/newly established star, take a step back and and focus on family, religion, and world charity.
IRS or not, Chris Tucker is nowhere near a “fuckin loser” for doing this stuff
Only Mike Esola could rangle up a spec sale less than two weeks before the holidays. Most industry folk are checked out but Esola, as usual, has his finger on both the trigger and the pulse.
mike esola is a complete idiot. shocking that he is a literary agent
You people define losers and winners by the size of bank accounts. No wonder the world is such a disaster.
Looks like the only loser is the guy spending all the time posting negative things about a guy he doesnt even know.Get a life and get off you mamas couch!
WoW some people such negitivity towards Chris (dont hate cuz he is famous and better than you), unlike you assholes i care for people and there personal success! I love Chris Tucker cant wait to see anything he is in! Hes not bad to look at either!
Mr. Tucker is a talented guy and I’m sure he’ll hit a homerun with whatever part that he is given for the film. There is a reason why he gets $20 million a film, he’s talented.
Really people, come on. The black community, the white community, the asian community, the latin community just every kind of community you can think of loves chris tucker. Any one who doesn’t as far as I am concerned just has a real dry sense of humour.
Who cares how much the guy makes, whether he makes a few million or a few dollars it makes no difference to you what so ever. It is all about entertaining you and that is exactly what he does, and that’s all you need to be concerned about.
To be honest I don’t care whether he fits the roll of the film or not (although it would be nice) just as long as I get to hear some of his jokes and see his whole persona I’m more than happy.
Its people like Chris Tucker I will never understand not being starred in so many more movies. The guy is talented beyond belief and the longer you wait to see him in a movie is just a complete waste……………..(no one lives for ever) if I had the money I would star him in a movie at least once a year or two max… no question about it, YOU WOUD MAKE MONEY FROM IT and more importantly you would entertain millions of people around the world time and time again.
Chris, if you happen to be reading these comments, don’t give a damn about half of the comments here or anywhere else. The fact is that you cant please everyone but I guarantee you that you please the majority.
Keep up the good work and get a new manager so you can get a few more roles.
