Catherine Hardwicke is in talks with 20th Century Fox to helm The Maze Runner, an adaptation of the James Dashner young adult novel. Thomas is a teenager who one day finds himself trapped in an enclosed environment along with 60 others. The only hope of escape is a maze that the boys can’t crack–until the first girl shows up with a message that could unlock the puzzle. Ellen Goldsmith Vein is producing.
Hardwicke, who directed the original Twilight, recently wrapped Red Riding Hood for Warner Bros.

What about Maximum Ride? Is that project dead or are they gonna get a new director
Hunger Games will kick its ass.
Ellen is not a producer. She is a rights person who then pretends to produce a movie. Between Ellen and Hardwicke we can feel safe that this is never happening.
This book was a finalist in the Random House/Kirkus Reviews/ Barnes & Noble 2009 Teen Book Awards – a book ‘trailer’ competition. Interesting little trailer for it @ bn.com/kirkusreviews
I liked this when it was called CUBE.
I read both “The Maze Runner” and “Modern Malice” and dug
“Modern Malice” more – but that’s probably due to my age -
I got more out of it as a story – and I’m still trying to find out of anybody is making a movie out of it – Casey Affleck or Colin Hanks would be perfect for the lead.

the maze runner is going to suck they need a new director
