UPDATED: The countdown to New Year’s eve is on, and so are the countdowns to a couple of possible channel blackouts as a number of carriage agreements expire at midnight on Dec. 31. Comcast’s E! and Style just issued a statement warning viewers that the two networks may go dark on DISH Network. Also tomorrow night, another satcaster, DirecTV, could drop the Golf Channel. Additionally, Sinclair’s 33 broadcast stations face blackout on Time Warner Cable systems as the two companies continue to be at odds over retransmission consent fees. Meanwhile, another station group, Hearst, just reached a last-minute agreement with DirecTV, so its 29 broadcast stations will remain on the DirecTV systems into the new year. Here is E! and Style’s statement:
We are in active negotiations with DISH Network. We are trying to reach a fair agreement, however, it is our belief they will once again turn their backs on their subscribers by dropping the networks and holding E! and Style fans hostage. In actively choosing to discontinue these two networks, Dish is denying their subscribers E!, the ultimate network for entertainment fans with marquee January events from exclusive coverage of Red Carpet season to the premiere of the new season of the Kardashian show Kourtney & Kim Take NY, and Style, the home of transformations, from fashion, to beauty to home, featuring all-new seasons of Kimora and Jerseylicious.

,,,,SEEMS MORE LIKE A CHRISTMAS PRESENT TO SUBSCRIBERS WITH TEENAGERS THAT ARE NAIVE AND BUY INTO THE CRAP THESE CHANNELS SERVE UP!
if they let go of e i will kill everyone at dish network
It’s always about money. I rolled my eyes when E! tweeted about being dropped. I don’t want my dish bill to go up for channels I barely watch.
I would just as soon Dish not renew these two chanels and give me something else to watch or a lower price. I have never found anything on these 2 channels worth watching, but have to pay for them to get channels I want. Just another reason why I wish we the person having to pay could pick the channels we want to watch and only have to pay for those.
Dish Network subscribers are so lucky!
dish network is a weiner sucker
My girlfriend is going to be pretty mad if this happens…
Unfortunately, not seeing “the Kardashians’again…and again…and again… which has now become one of ther most over satuated, over produced shows on television,,just doesn’t upset me and possibly most of America…GO Dish network!
Amusing how, whenever one of the networks puts out a press release like this and talk about how the big bad satellite/cable companies are holding subscribers hostage, they fail to mention that the satellite/cable companies are actually trying to PROTECT subscribers by not bending over and passing on another ass-gouging price hike that all these channels continue to demand despite the economy. Some of these channels are demanding a price hike per month of six dollars or more which is outrageous. And it’s not like E! in this case has any programming with any kind of price hike. If anything, the channel should be PAYING subscribers. Not charging them. If only a handful of channels demanded a price hike these bastards are demanding, many people would have to quit subscribing altogether because they would not longer be able to afford it. Of course, the greedy networks never mention this in their whiny press releases. I say, good for Dish and the like for standing up to these greedy pigs and actually protecting customers.
Your bill won’t go down. They will simply replace those two networks with something else. Comcast hasn’t had a good track record with satelite providers. G4 got dropped by Direct Tv and now E! and Style are being dropped by Dish. This is just simply pandering by the providers because of Comcast pending acquistion of the NBC.
These two channels exist? I will not miss them.
Hearst and DirecTV made a deal earlier today; it’s good to see that there are some reasonable parties out there in these negotiations:

Sorry about the duplicate about Hearst and DirecTV. Looks like Sinclair will be cutting off TWC; they’re so far apart I can’t see them reaching a deal by deadline.
I can’t believe all the crap people will say. Just because you think some of the shows suck doesn’t mean they all do. E and Style are a quilty pleasure. I love Clean House, True Hollywood Story, Guiliana and Bill and The Soup. What would life be like without Joel McHale making me laugh?
I like Dish. It is the most user friendly service available however their customer service is horrible and this is just another case in point. Dish you have to take care of your customers in order to keep your customers. Wake up!!
Hopefully these negotiations will start going smoothly and E’s panic will be for nothing.
Dish is doing its subscribers a favor by dropping those two channels. They broadcast trash 24/7.
E!, one of my favorite networks! I honestly don’t know what I would do without it.
I’ll miss E!
My girlfriend watches E! quite a bit, and I admit to laughing at some of the jokes on Chelsey Lately and Talk Soup. However, once my girlfriend leaves the TV, I switch it to TMC or IFC or comedy central. I pay about $70/month, and all I watch is about 2 or 3 channels on Dish Network. Dish should either lower their prices, or start thinking about investing in some programming of their own. I wouldn’t mind an entirely ala-carte programming menu. Maybe the FCC should step in and prohibit cable/satellite companies from owning their content.
No loss.
I cant believe we didn’t have time to be able to do something about this!I would happily pay 6 dollars more a month for my Sunday nights with Kendra, Holly Madison, and the Kardashion sisters.I am a mother of many and that is my only time to myself to relax and enjoy my guilty pleasures!i have been so pumped up for the bridalplasty finally and the new seasons of the Kardashion’s,and Holly’s world i feel so ripped off! This is the only channel my t.v. shows besides the cartoon channel for the kids. There goes mommas sanity! Thanks for taking my rainbow!
Yeah, but I don’t want to pay $6 more a month so you can spend your Sundays with Kendra, Holly Madison, and the Kardashion sisters.
Try watching something that isn’t trash.
This doesn’t surprise me. All Comcast is doing is try to bleed money out of the pockets of the Dish Network customers, just like they do to the subscribers of their cable service. I was a Comcast subscriber, their rates are so ridiculous. I have more channels on Dish than I did on Comcast, and I now pay much less than I did back then. Comcast may be fooling some people, but they’re not fooling their former cable subscribers that now have Dish.
I won’t miss it. I used to like Chelsea but she is just plain trashy lately. No pun intended. As far as the Kardashians go…no big loss. Their show is about as worthwhile as watching paint dry.
Holy crap — I pray weekly that E! and Style will disappear and make way for 2 channels that are worth a damn…DON’T SETTLE ANYBODY, WHEREVER YOU ARE!
This is getting out of hand. I don’t watch E or Style but I do watch sports. The San Jose Sharks NHL, the Sacramento Kings NBA and the Oakland A’s are all on Comcast Sports Calif. DISH dropped this sports channel a month ago and now Comcast is offering $150 to anyone who drops DISH and switches to Comcast.
The FCC needs to get involved to put a stop to this before Comcast pulls more of the channels they own in order to get customers from DISH and Direct TV to switch to Comcast. This is what happens when a company provides programming to their competitors. Stop and think for a minute what’s going to happen when Comcast owns NBC. I’m sure there will be situations where Comcast forces DISH and DIRECT to drop NBC channels because Comcast has raised the price so high in order to get customers for their cable systems from the satilite companies.
For once I would like to see my taxes do something for me. The Fed’s need to find ways to stop Comcast from owning NBC before it’s too late and to stop Comcast from keeping their channels off their competitors.
At the very least, someone in the Federal Govt needs to force these companies to keep these channels on during negotiations. You can laugh about E and Style being dropped but the day is coming when channels you like are dropped.
NO E- how lucky can you get,
I will drop Dish if Dish drops E! I’m already upset at the fact that I am stuck in a two year with Dish. Now if they try to take my favorite channels I won’t be happy at all! I hate Dish! They have no on demand shows and no channel selection. I need E and Style! Or I’m done with Dish!
i now thats right they need to change somethin and do it fast
