EXCLUSIVE: Comedy Central has handed out a pilot order to a half-hour project from comedian Matt Braunger and The Office writer-producer Brent Forrester. The two co-created and co-wrote the untitled comedy, which stars MadTV alum Braunger as a nice guy who works a crappy day job as a closed-captioner and at night gets into crazy escapades with his curmodgeony friend. Forrester is slated to direct the pilot and serve as showrunner. Avalon Television (Comedy Central’s Workaholics) is producing. Forrester, whose credits also include The Simpsons and King of the Kill, and Braunger are repped by UTA. Braunger, a frequent panel guest on Chelsea Lately, is also with Avalon Management.

the good old “crazy escapades” logline.
Well, Brent is a funny guy, and he certainly knows crazy.
Based on the life of Kenjamin Bollenbroich
Nice guy, good for him.
Braungs is hella funny. No reason why that shouldn’t translate into scripted success. Looking forward to this show!
Good for the guys and gals over at Avalon! Great company and great people, nice to see their success.
I’ve worked as a transcriber for various shows in Hollywood and submitted material to the WGA about a wacky group of transcribers who get into shenanigans like it’s nobody’s business. It’s funny because it was based loosely off “The Office”. Maybe I should quit being such a schmuck and start writing more.
MB,
you’ve got to include the bit where you pour a bowl of cereal as soon as you sit down at your station to work every morning.
Crappy job? I object!
We miss you!
I never said it was a crappy job, however, the basis behind my WGA-registered material is that the transcribers view it as a crappy, mundane job and therefore get into crazy situations to alleviate their boredom. I’m collaborating with an evil genius, I shall only say bears the initials DAE, in sending out a few e-mails in attempts to strike some sort of contact with the creators of this show. Wish us luck.
