EXCLUSIVE: MTV has assembled the quartet of leads for its remake of the award-winning British series The Inbetweeners, which was greenlighted to pilot in 
September. Joey Pollari (Avalon High), Bubba Lewis (To Save a Life), The Virginity Hit star Zack Pearlman and Mark L. Young (Big Love) are set to star in the high-school comedy described as Superbad meets Freeks and Geeks. It revolves around four high school boys (Pollari, Lewis, Pearlman, Young) who belong to the “inbetweeners” social class — teens who are not the most cool and popular but not geeky enough to be branded uncool. Taika Waititi (The Flight of the Concords) is set to direct the pilot, which is slated to begin production on January 10 in Orlando. Brad Copeland wrote the adaptation and serves as the showrunner. He is executive producing with Iain Morris and Damon Beesley, creators of the original series, and Aaron Kaplan of Kapital Entertainment. This marks the fourth pilot for 18-month-old Kapital Entertainment.

So, bottom left is going to be Will, I assume? He looks more geeky and Apatow than the original Will, who was much more nerdy and “posh”. I think this might have turned out to be a pretty good show, if it got a spot on NBC, but on MTV? I don’t want it. Same for Skins, really.

Fmom, you clearly have never seen the original Channel 4 show. The main premise is teenagers BEING teenagers. In England, The Inbetweeners has become such a cultural phenomenon it has introduced new phrases into many people’s daily vocabulary
e.g.
Gash= Female Genitalia
Throthing at The Gash= The physical state a female is in when she is extremely aroused.
Bus Wankers= People who because of their economic situation are confined to public transport.
Klunge- Female Genitalia
Knee Deep In Klunge= Surrounded by women (and by proxy their genitalia)
Bumder= an amalgamation of ‘bummer’ and ‘bender’ and a derrogotory word for a homosexual man.
The inventive swearing makes this show and reminds us of how we were when we were 17 (just before the legal age to drink alcohol here in the UK)
How I love the Inbetweeners! This post is spot on by the way – the reason it is popular is that it isn’t watered down and reflects how young people speak and how teen boys think!
Swearing is how they speak, it adds to the humour. And the filthy jokes they use in this show will most likely be censored-so they will suck all the humour out. The original writers would never allow those boys to be cast, and they would never agree to water down jokes to be “acceptable”.

never seen the Inbetweeners before but it seems like MTV can’t seem to up come up with any original ideas. 2 of their upcoming shows are remakes or reboots(Skins and Teen Wolf). Sad that MTV can’t come up with something that isn’t a remake/reboot.

American television just needs to stop. I know for a fact that American networks are capable of coming up with good shows, like the channel USA. MTV just gives everyone else a bad name.
And I’ve lived in America my whole life. I watch most of my TV online or on BBC America because it’s just better.

I know swearing does not make a show funny but the inbetweeners is not the inbetweeners without the course language and inappropriateness. It is not glee. they constantly swear and make coarse sexual references, two things that i doubt will be on the american version. For example, a scene in which a character takes part in a charity fashion show with one of his testicles sticking out will not be put on american television.I will be extremely surprised if it even slightly measures up to the original.
This is going to suck big time…
