EXCLUSIVE: MTV has assembled the quartet of leads for its remake of the award-winning British series The Inbetweeners, which was greenlighted to pilot in
September. Joey Pollari (Avalon High), Bubba Lewis (To Save a Life), The Virginity Hit star Zack Pearlman and Mark L. Young (Big Love) are set to star in the high-school comedy described as Superbad meets Freeks and Geeks. It revolves around four high school boys (Pollari, Lewis, Pearlman, Young) who belong to the “inbetweeners” social class — teens who are not the most cool and popular but not geeky enough to be branded uncool. Taika Waititi (The Flight of the Concords) is set to direct the pilot, which is slated to begin production on January 10 in Orlando. Brad Copeland wrote the adaptation and serves as the showrunner. He is executive producing with Iain Morris and Damon Beesley, creators of the original series, and Aaron Kaplan of Kapital Entertainment. This marks the fourth pilot for 18-month-old Kapital Entertainment.

Oh no, oh no, oh no.
This is going to be horrible. How on earth are they going to be able to recreate the original series? It won’t be nearly as funny once US censorship has been applied to it. I doubt Jay’s character will even be able to say a single line…
And these guys are far too pretty to be inbetweeners.
This is just wrong.
Tube socks. Farts. Condoms. Smoking in the boys room. Masturbating. Books? What WILL they be reading? Junk food. Pot. Parents collection of pharmaceuticals. Part time jobs. Drivers license. More masturbating. More farts. Technology. Girls. Girls? More farts. Where’s my I-Phone?
Can’t see mtv pulling this one off. Who is playing will’s mom though?
Loool What the fuck? They’re not meant be hot that’s the point, no sex appeal you just fall in love with the characters because we all know someone like that and because they are sooo funny, I am quite surprised that Iain and damon (the writers) agreed to this because the main characters and a lot of the stories were them and their own anecdotes it would be quite hard to translate over to an American environment. Also a lot of it is quintessentially British the language, the environment it’s a teenage experience
Three of them are too attractive to be Inbetweeners-most American shows only have better-than-average looking actors, but this show is meant to be about average kids. The swearing and rudeness are the essence of the show, and the way they talk is way too British to be successfully remade by Americans. Why can’t they make a new sitcom and Americans can just watch the original? Nothing will ever be as good, regardless of who they cast or who directs it.
