UPDATED THURSDAY PM: NBC has tweaked its scheduling plans for Monday. The Sing-Off finale will now remain 2 hours, and the Perfect Couples preview will air at 10 PM, followed by an Office repeat.
PREVIOUS WEDNESDAY 5PM: With The Sing-Off current second cycle doing so well, it’s not surprising that NBC wants to extend it. The network will expand the season finale of the a cappella singing competition next Monday by a half-hour. It will also use the finale to get sampling for new comedy Perfect Couples. A preview episode of the midseason series, which will not be the pilot, will immediately follow the Sing-Off finale at 10:30 PM. Perfect Couples will premiere in its regular Thursday 8:30 PM slot on Jan. 20, when NBC launches its new six-comedy Thursday lineup. NBC used a similar strategy for new fall drama Outlaw, which was previewed after the finale of summer reality hit America’s Got Talent in September. This past Monday, The Sing-Off set series highs with a 3.3/9 in 18-49 and 9.5 million viewers overall.

When Bob Greenblatt comes in, he should just throw away the entire schedule except for Sunday Night Football. Just cancel everything else, order 10 new dramas, and 4 new comedies.
I’m sure the NBC marketing department would love that.
What just happened on The Sing-Off??? The judges bailed on both the basic finale premise (final three for nation to vote on) AND sending Jerry Lawson packing. Lawson and friends did not belong in the competition after the first round. Anyone, anyone?
I so agree with the above post Jerry Lawson and group are not of the same caliber as the other groups. They do not belong in the competion any longer. The judges are being very patronizing to this group. They are talented but no where near as talented as the others. It is embarrassing.
and that worked well for outlaw didn’t it?
Thank you judges!! I was so hoping that they would let all 4 go through! And why I ask, is this such a short lived show…. What 3-4 weeks..6-8 shows… Not enough. They are showcasing such amazing talent!! Those voices are from heaven!!! Who knew a cappella could be so beautiful!!! We need more Sing Off! I sincerely thank NBC for what they have given my family to watch & enjoy together!!
Do we AGREE. The integrity of the show has been compromised. Need udges willing to stick with format and make the tough calls…sentiment aside. Much better groups sent packing. Unfair.
In my opinion Jerry Lawsons group is better at least one of the top four…
I thought Jerry and his boys had finally hit a wall… until they sang their second song! Sorry, but those old farts totally EARNED that extra spot in the finals. Committed actually had the least exciting of the final four performances, which surprised me a lot cuz they’re SOOOO good usually, but they kept their final song on the same level the whole number. No crescendoes or dynamic changes at all, which they excel at. It left an opening for Jerry’s group which they exploited. Judges made a good call. I did not envy them. I was predicting a final two of the boys from Nashville vs. Committed, but those L.A. kids blew me away with that Landslide performance, so it’s anyone’s game now. I so effing LOVE this show!
I totally agree that we need more Sing Off. Our whole family is always watching this together and that makes us bond to each other more.
My problem with Jerry Lawson’s group is that…they stayed with the oldies style.
Sing-Off is good because the talent is extraordinary (unlike American Idol), Nick Lachey doesn’t goof around like an idiot (unlike Ryan Seacrest), and the judges, who although with the exception of Ben Folds have nothing expert to say, at least don’t try to upstage the performers (unlike…well, you know).
Also, your opinion about Lawson and the guys is foolish.
I sincerely hope Perfect Couples crashes and burns. I despise Olivia Munn like little else, watching her fail spectacularly would be extremely entertaining.
Olivia Munn is amazing. Looking forward to seeing her new show.
Perfect Couple sucked big time. I don’t think they know what they want it to be. Broad comedy. Touching. There were some odd ass conversations between the girls. Ugh. And mark my words every show will have 3 different groups we follow because of Modern Family.
I am a musician/performer and I sing in both acapella and rock bands in NY. You have no idea how hard it is to pull of the music that these groups are performing, seemingly so effortlessly. And while there are some that think that Talk of the Town doesn’t belong, I respectfully disagree. While you may not like their style, they have risen to the challenge of performing music of other genres and making it “their own”, not an easy feat. To those that are inclined to think that the judges “copped out” by not sending another group packing, I also respectfully disagree. All four of these groups are entertaining and take the songs they perform to another level musically. You can hear it if you just open your ears…and your mind.
