NBC has reduced the order to freshman procedural Chase by 4 episodes, from full-season 22 to 18. Chase, from Warner Bros. TV and Bruckheimer TV, was the lowest-rated NBC series to snag a full-season pickup last month but many believed it didn’t get a fair shake by going against Hawaii Five-O on Mondays this fall with little publicity for its launch. NBC planned to give Chase a more protected time period in midseason, moving the series to Wednesdays 9 PM where it was to air against CBS’ veteran crime drama Criminal Minds. But because of Fox’s surprising decision to change the airing pattern of American Idol, Chase will now face even tougher competition in its new time slot going against Idol. NBC and Fox have formally announced their midseason schedules, ABC has done it piecemeal while CBS is said to be in no rush as its fall schedule is working and it, with no cancellations, it has no immediate holes to fill.

Not a great show, but the biggest problem… It’s the lead. For some reason, and I’m not alone in this,
she’s highly unsympathetic. Not meaning she has to be some uncomplicated cut out, but the actress… there’s no empathy there, nothing behind the eyes, lack of soul. Which is harsh to say, but that’s how she photographs.
NBC doesn’t have much faith in Chase, do they? It seems like they’ve made nothing but bad decisions regarding it’s scheduling. It would be better off on Friday at this point, as it doesn’t stand a chance against Criminal Minds – or American Idol.
Nellie, have your sources given you any indication when ABC or CBS are going to release their midseason schedules? What’s taking so long?
Personally love the show. We need to get to know and like the characters. All the show lacks, in my opinion, is character development.
Criminal Minds is my favorite show, but since they booted off JJ, it’s not the same. And who really watches all of AI? I DVR and fast forward through most of it.
A more protected time period? Against CM, which has eaten SUV’s lunch the past two seasons? Please. NBC finally got a clue after this past Monday’s performance where it couldn’t beat a 5-0 (R) or that Country music thing. Not sure why NBC didn’t start making adjustments after first five weeks.
I think facing american idol is better than facing Castle and hawaii five o — which are all after the same audience. I wish they would move the event to another night — Mondays is the worst night to be on
I agree. Plus I don’t think American Idol will be that much of a powerhouse. Without Simon, the show is nothing.
Jennifer should have developed this somewhere else…
Would have been a much better series on ANY OTHER NETWORK… Oxygen and Weather Channel included.
Looks as if NONE of the Texas-based shows will survive the season.
Terrible show. Terrible place to work. Not shocked it’s imploding both internally and in the ratings.
I like Kelli Giddish. She does have depth, and I wouldn’t be surprised if she becomes a star in another show…
The problem is the concept behind the show. It’s supposed to be a thriller, but there can’t be any suspense. I mean, they know (mostly) who the bad guy is, right? That’s why the marshals are giving chase in the first place. Then there are 12 marshals and 1 bad guy, so it’s obvious the bad guy will get apprehended. It’s not a fair fight, and drama demands that…
The problem is Bruckheimer TV. They are more “done” than my overcooked brownie from 1982.
Lay off Kelli. She ain’t the problem…
this is just NOT a good show. And Bruckheimer knows that. A been there…done that concept. Give us something fresh, different.Stop caring about the “name” writer /showrunner/ star attached. Buy the concept and then let what Bruckheimer does best…Surround that concept and person with the most talented people…that’s how CSI happened.
I love the show and started watching it because of the lead. She had a great show on Fox that was cancelled last year where she played a clairvoyant/psychic crime fighter (I know! LOL!), but I like her and her Conyers, GA accent in Texas, no less. I agree they need to write more about the characters….such as why her father is wanted by the Marshalls….what is her history? More character development is needed and the far-fetched chases with her super human moves have got to go. But, the plots have been really good and keep you guessing til the end. You really don’t know what’s going to happen next! I wish they would have moved to Tuesdays after The Biggest Loser. I have to watch Castle on-demand because I watch this show and DVR Hawaii Five-O. I don’t know why networks schedule all the shows in one time slot on one day that will appeal to the same audience.
I like Chase and hope they renew it.
I really love Chase. I think it’s NBC’s fault for being idiots and not knowing how to:
a) schedule
b) advertise
I think that it’s an amazing show that Fox should’ve picked up. I hope it does better on Wednesday and I think it will since Idol is a dying breed.
