Beverly Hills, CA — Two hundred forty-eight feature films are eligible for the 2010 Academy Award® for Best Picture, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced today. To be eligible for 83rd Academy Awards® consideration, feature films must open in a commercial motion picture theater in Los Angeles County by midnight, December 31, and begin a minimum run of seven consecutive days.
Under Academy rules, a feature-length motion picture must have a running time of more than 40 minutes and must have been exhibited theatrically on 35mm or 70mm film, or in a qualifying digital format.
Feature films that receive their first public exhibition or distribution in any manner other than as a theatrical motion picture release are not eligible for Academy Awards in any category.
The 83rd Academy Awards nominations will be announced live on Tuesday, January 25, 2011, at 5:30 a.m. PT in the Academy’s Samuel Goldwyn Theater. Academy Awards for outstanding film achievements of 2010 will be presented on Sunday, February 27, 2011, at the Kodak Theatre.

Therefore, Yogi Bear 3D meets all the requirements.
So I take it that “All Good Things” with Ryan Gosling and Kirsten Dunst, which was available on video-on-demand before its theatrical release, is not eligible to be nominated in any category, correct? There is an article about V.O.D. in The New York Times that discusses the director’s initial resistance to having the film released in such a manner, but it failed to mention the implications for Oscar eligibility. However, the reporter does describe the film as an “awards contender.”

127 HOURS
ANIMAL KINGDOM
BLACK SWAN
THE FIGHTER
INCEPTION
THE KIDS ARE ALL RIGHT
THE KING’S SPEECH
THE SOCIAL NETWORK
THE TOWN
TOY STORY 3
Animal Kingdom is easily one of the best film’s of the year. I hope more people get a chance to see it, as I don’t think it was around very long in cinemas in the U.S.
I believe The Academy used to give a complete list of all eligible film titles before the nominations were announced. I do not see this on the AMPAS website (yet).
Does anyone have this list to share?
hey, i don’t have the full list either… I have been looking for hours for it and can’t find it anywhere. If you finally find it or someone sends it to you, can you share that list with me….
“Ellie”…
Did they list the eligible movies this time?
Best film: tiny furniture
please please PLEASE Inception, Toy Story 3, and Black Swan are all must!!!
I really don’t care if there are 1,000 films that are eligible, just as long as Black Swan and The Social Network get nominated. They were the 2 best films of the year. Hands down.
