I’ve been given the following statement from Paradigm: “We have mutually parted ways with Jim Osborne. Jim will work closely with the agency and the clients he was responsible for during the transition and beyond.” Hmm, do you think the move follows Friday’s departure of client Hayden Christensen for UTA and Osbourne’s volunteering the following reaction to me? ”He wouldn’t read for Clint Eastwood’s Hereafter, he passed on Afterlife opposed Liam Neeson, he passed on Cheri opposite Michelle Pfeiffer. It’s so competitive for young actors right now that sitting on a farm in Toronto is not going to get him a job.” Osbourne had repped the actor long term at ICM and Paradigm until Christensen moved internally to David Guillod five months ago.
Editor-in-Chief Nikki Finke - tip her here.

Are you serious? I missed that. The audacity of these kids. Who does he think he is, Jack Nicholson?
I thought you had to pay your dues in this town. Wish I could be sitting on a farm, turning down offers to work with great actors.
I love Hollywood psychics. How do you know who he thinks he is? So according to you every actor who turns down a role must think he’s too good for it? Is that the only reason actors ever turn down roles?
So long Jimbo! Good luck at Dunder Mifflen!
…I wish my boss were like Michael Scott
Jim,
You were closed off to everyone and everything. You worked at a medium agency. Now you are out there and you may just need my help.
So sorry.
Thank you.
Hayden?
Assume he will wind up @ Gersh.. Here’s the thing: Hayden might be a tool and a very minor talent, but agents simply don’t trash their former clients in a public forum. What message does that give existing clients?
Gersh won’t take him, he’s a thug and a stupid one at that.
Jim Osbourne’s reaction to Hayden’s departure was immature, reactionary and unprofessional. Disclosing which material he passed on to the public is bad enough, but Jim went on to describe him as lazy and entitled. Furthermore, I would assume he signed a confidentiality agreement at Paradigm (even interns have to sign them at most larger agencies)and thus violated company policy.
During the limited interactions I have had with Jim Osbourne, he came across as an arrogant, unintelligent ass.
BTW, Jim, this is how you should vent your disdain – anonymously on the internet!
So who’s driving the train wreck of Adrien Brody’s career now?
Short-sighted move by Paradigm. They just gave away the best agent they had.
Nice try, Jim Osbourne.
You’re the only one in town that thinks so, Jim…
He’s such a big douchebag that you can’t even get him in aisle four of CVS. You need to go the pharmacist and explain why you need the giant one. Really embarrassing.
Speaking of really embarrassing, Sam should be ashamed for hiring this guy in the first place. Widely detested and, aside from his fearlessness, brings absolutely nothing to the table as a talent rep. No vision, no clue, no taste.
No job!
What those of you in the artistic community (actors, writers, etc.) may not realize is that a true closer can be successful as an agent, a headhunter, a stockbroker, i.e., anything that involves the art of persuading others to view circumstances and situations through YOUR lense.
I don’t know Mr. Osbourne, but if he’s good – he’s already got five offers waiting in the wings – I know I always do.

Congrats Nikki. Another head on your wall.
Jim was such a bad agent. I can’t believe he lasted this long. He’s someone who was promoted only because he was good at dialing phones for Ed Limato. There’s a lesson here. A good secretary doesn’t mean a good agent.
Good riddance.
“A good secretary doesn’t mean a good agent.” Are you kidding me? That is EXACTLY how ICM promotes. They foolishly think that someone who can roll calls for his boss is fit to be an agent. That is exactly why ICM is no longer a Top 4 and their junior agents are jokes amongst the agencies. In fact, ICM is probably the only agency where department heads don’t even have college degrees (I won’t say who, but it’s not difficult to figure out).
Hmm..I wonder if Adrien Brody & Gary Oldman (who JIMBO reps) stays at Paradigm or follows the pariah to the pastures…..If all we heard now was that Oldman got rid of his manager..the world would be a better place..
Jim,
I disagree you were too open to everyone and everything. You worked at a fabulous agency. Sure you are out there now and obviously this guy above isn’t going to help you, so call me. We’ll do lunch.
Thank you.
I hope his comments about Hayden were worth it.
ROOTING Mr. Jim Osborne Who Was Trained By 1 of The Best Mr. Ed Limato UTILIZES This OPPORTUNITY To Make Whatever Personal & Professional Changes He needs To Make To Channel His PASSION into creating The MOST JOY & THE BEST RESULTS of his Career
JIm was an jack*** and deserves everything that is coming to him which is nothing – he will find it very chilly in LA now since he was so rude to so many -
Karma.
You got it friend what GOES around does eventually come around and bury you!
Just another case where an agency turns its back on the messenger for speaking the truth. I hope it’s more than that but bending over for marginal talent doesn’t look good.
All of my experiences with jim osbourne were always negative – big ego, big mouth, and just a condescending asshole. Glad to be rid of him!!!!
I believe this once again goes to show it doesn’t matter who you are; an agent, manager, talent or studio exec; no one is safe and everything in this industry is temporary.
maybe if you spent more time taking care of your own clients instead of stealing others, you would stlll have a job
In all of my dealings with Jim, I have found him to be honest, direct, very clever and genuinely witty. Unlike many people in this business who are dangerously duplicitous, Jim wears his heart on his sleeve and you always know where you stand with him…good for bad. I am sure the guy will land on his feet.
Who are you kidding????? Are you in a fairy tale or something? Geez…
Jim, you are the biggest d-bag in Hollywood. Good ridance!
Jim certainly needed to get knocked down another rung to get his ego under control and as well as his often catalogued excesses.
But he is a good agent, when he puts his mind to it.
Definitely a few comments are way too harsh, though expected as Jim never worried about who he pissed off along the way in fighting for his clients.
Though it clearly rubbed so many the wrong way, I always found there to be some charm to his bravado aka “condescending ahole” as one other person called it.
Its no coincidence that Jeremy Piven was a Osborne client when he landed ENTOURAGE. Though it was written after Ari Emmanuel, I always saw a bit of Osborne in the mannerisms and bombastic delivery Piven gave the character.
In some ways I’m glad to see he’ll end up having to face a lot of those same people who his smash mouthed style of agenting ruffled on his way down. Secretly, most agents wish they could get away with what Jim did, but then again, most agents know better than to try.
And truth be told, there was no better team to represent an actor than Osborne plus a well like, very tactical agent loved by all – because for all the grief he’d cause the other party, he was the best bad cop agent, and would charge, where others had the sense not too, succeeding more time than most ever thought possible.
He’ll land on his feet, and thankfully closer to Earth so he can get a wake up call.
But I feel for the guy, because ultimately, underneath what is often thought of as a douche exterior, there is actually a really great guy, if a bit troubled.
I will always say that while he produced endless grief among colleagues, managers, and studio executives alike, he was genuine, though often genuinely out for himself and his clients. But unashamedly so, which is often better than those who pretend otherwise.
And for all the negative things said about the guy, he was a class act with me several times, taking the time to give his version of a buck up speech on a few occasions. He wasn’t the sociopath he appears, he just played one really well.
Maybe finally his ego will stop getting in the way of his agenting, because Jim Osborne sans the ego would actually be the great agent he tries to say he is, but then again Jim Osborne sans ego wouldn’t be Osborne.
It’s very generous you took time to write this thoughtful post for your former colleague but by the time I got to the end I realized I’d just read a description of nearly half the men I’ve met in Hollywood. Unpleasant personalities, terrible business management skills, not very emotionally mature; oh but can be a charming and nice guy sometimes. How common.
Ha ha ha! Me too, I got rather “blurry eyed” reading all that trash. Who needs a guy like that…
Well said by Past ICMer. I hope Jim lands on his feet.
I wish more people on this site wrote with the precision you do.
Sums it up. Great post.
Well said. I’m not an Osborne fan per se, but I do gotta admit that the guy did have a backbone and would go to war for his clients. Sad that he got pushed outta the game for a comment regarding a no-talent assclown like Hayden Christensen. What a sham! Curious to see what happens to his clients. Adrien Brody may have his detractors, but the guy still can book regular work if he wants. And Gary Oldman is a stellar talent, any way you wanna slice it. Good luck to ya Jimbo, hope you land on your feet.
Get over it, HAYDEN CHRISTENSEN is a great talent and is very specific as to what he wants. I see nothing wrong with that, especially since they TELL the agent that before they ever sign with them in the first place!
Hayden Christensen in Cheri? *shudder*
