That was quick: Eliza Dushku has pulled out of TNT’s drama pilot Bird Dog. I hear she exited the project over the weekend, several days after she closed a deal to star in the drama, a mystery fashioned around an unlikely partnership of a father-daughter cop duo.
Meanwhile, NYPD Blue and 24 alum Ricky Schroder has signed on to star opposite Molly Parker in the Lifetime pilot Meet Jane. The project, from Warner Horizon, centers on Jane Bilinski (Parker) whose stale life as an unhappily married mother of two daughters in the Washington, DC area is suddenly re-energized and empowered when the FBI enlists her to spy on her husband (Schroder), a computer technician the government suspects is selling top-secret information to Russia. Schroder, managed by the Hofflund Co., most recently took some time out to focus on writing and directing. On screen, he recently appeared in Get Him To The Greek and is
set to guest star in an upcoming episode of ABC’s No Ordinary Family.
In other pilot castings, Fortitude-repped Megan Ferguson has landed a supporting role on the TBS pilot Hound Dogs, about a Minor League baseball team. She will play the assistant to the team’s general manager.

Eliza Dushku should be lucky anyone wants her to lead a show after Dollhouse and Tru Calling were huge flops.
Not another COP show !!! Your killing the industry!!!!
Hmm, sounds like the dreaded creative differences. It’s too bad, the show sounded promising for her. I agree, Dushku should be grateful she’s still being asked to lead shows. Hope she’s got something else in the pipeline.
I think she would be perfect for the new Charlie’s Angels.
Agree – Charlie’s Angels is so ripe for a remake.
Put in Alica Witt , with her Edgar Floats Dad Robert Patrick .. Loved them together !!!
Uh so after the failure of Terriers we got two more “go” pilots with “Dog” in the title. Sweet.
Doesn’t he go by “Rick”? Or did he go back to “Ricky”?
I like Dushku, but she cannot carry a series nor film on her own, yet continues to hold out for these rare opportunities to do so. And now she’s passing on them? Bizarre and foolish.
Rich Schroder was a terribly underrated addition to “NYPD Blue” and was very good on “Scrubs.” It would be nice if this succeeded.
dushku is certainly attractive, BUT SHE CANT ACT. dollhouse didnt have a chance with her in the lead.
Eliza Dushku can definitely act, but she’s a character actress, not a leading lady. The problem is her management and the studios keep trying to feminize her to make her more broadly appealing, and it’s like putting Michelle Rodriguez in a pink tutu. She would be great if she could just find a solid show for her to play a supporting role as what she does best and effortlessly – the bad girl next door. Re-establish herself in the Post-Buffy mainstream, make some money doing what she does best, and THEN try to expand into other character types and possibly series leads. Right now they’re putting the horse before the carriage with her.
clearly you don’t understand the term “character actor”. aside from the fact it’s usually a kind way to describe someone ugly (which Dushku clearly isn’t) – it’s an actor with a broad range of characters, not just one. And even you admitted she only does one character well.
I think Dollhouse could have been a smash success, if only Dushku were the “Boyd” and Enver were the “Echo”.
Please explain how anything you just said is relevant – I can’t even tell what point you are trying to argue…
Please…the premise of “Meet Jane” is flimsey at best…it’s a 1 joke show..I mean how long can you make the FBI look like idiots before they corner their guy and arrest him.. There’s no where to go with this show
