Starz’s new costume drama Camelot will debut on April 1st and will air in the Friday 10 PM time slot once occupied by Spartacus: Blood and Sand. The 10-episode retelling of the classic medieval tale of King Arthur stars Joseph Fiennes as Merlin, Jamie Campbell Bower as Arthur, and Eva Green as the darkly powerful Morgan. Shot on-location in Ireland, Camelot is an Irish-Canadian co-production from Octagon and Take 5 Prods., and executive produced along with Ecosse Films and GK-tv.

Man I love how they’ve scheduled my most anticipated shows. They’ve got Spartacus airing in January-February, Dr.Who, Camelot and Game of Thrones in April-June, Torchwood, Locke and Key and Alphas during the summer and The Walking Dead in October-January.
Will this go straight to Netflix, like Spartacus?
Unfortunately the sadly 30th remake of Camelot!! and all these other new versions of epic classics and “sword and sandles” movies are all the same!.Please…Over and over again, the SAME!!….”Spartacus” was great…now move on! Heard of “Game Of Thrones” Chris??. You’ve lost it…
Balance your programming…give me a “Boardwalk Empire”, those “Barbarian At The Gates” type of projects. A historical family drama which we haven’t seen or don’t know the stoey… how about an epic western…But the same genre over and over again???Who ever these development people who are working for you seem to be sorely lacking in talent. Just “yes” men.
And there are and will be plenty more Camelots/Arthurian legends in development or are you not paying attention? Bryan Singer ring a bell?
Furthermore, Chris’s been there for about a year, and Starz is developing many projects. Get some perspective and do some research! Heck, Nellie’s reported what’s on Starz’s development slate.
Well I’m very interested in this.In my lifetime, there have been 5 interpretations of King Arthur, at least to my knowledge.First Knight, Merlin Miniseries, Mist of Avalon, King Arthur and BBC’s Merlin.
Those were either played as straight dramas or family oriented fantasies.Camelot will be a series that combines the drama and the fantasy and won’t be aimed at kids or families. And it’s being produced by Michael Hirst.
I don’t mind remakes, as long as you tell me a new or different story. This is going to be a story that is different from those incarnations, so I’m on board.
