EXCLUSIVE: True Blood has tapped Hawthorne actress Christina Moore to join the season 4 cast as a recurring. Moore — whose credits also include MADtv, That ’70s Show, and 90210 — will play Suzanne McKittrick, a WASPy Texas housewife who possesses certain special abilities. Moore will shoot her True Blood arc while on hiatus from Hawthorne; production on the TNT drama’s third season (its first with new showrunner John Tinker) is scheduled to get underway this spring. She is with Gersh and manager Dan Spilo.
Also landing multi-episode arcs on the upcoming season of True Blood are Neil Hopkins (a.k.a. Charlie’s brother Liam on Lost) as Claude, Claudine’s (Lara Pulver) mysterious brother, and Chris Butler (The Good Wife) as Emory, a prissy and conservative shapeshifter with his own agenda. Both are repped by SDB Partners. Hopkins is managed by One Talent; Butler by Pine River. Michael Ausiello is contributing to Deadline.com as he preps for the early 2011 launch of a new TV-centric website.

Claude! Finally!
Yeah, after last season this is all True Blood needs, more characters.
With the vampires, werewolves, shapeshifters and fairies in the mix I was just waiting for a clown. That would have just made the season so much better.
Here’s hoping the show regains it’s focus next season.
You should probably read the books, sport.
Sooo true. I guess alot of supernaturalism goes on in small Southern places…
I second Karly’s comment, Roger –
This show is based on a book series. These are all characters that are integral to the telling of a story that was originally written by Charlaine Harris.
If you are going to bitch about the direction of a show that is based on a book … you should probably read the book first.
You do realize you are watching a supernatural show right? The whole basis of True Blood is vampires, werewolves, shape-shifters and fairies.
Yeah, you really should read the books before complaining about all the supernaturals that have been added in. While the show doesn’t follow the books storyline exactly, they have stuck to the TYPES of supernatural characters involved pretty closely.
Ah, I was hoping they’d introduce Claude! Though I’m still not too sure about what they’re doing with Claudine.
The series has taken a lot of liberties with the show. As a huge fan of the books I can say that adding all of the characters from them is going to get chaotic. It works in the book, because the books are in Sookie’s point of view. So when she’s not interacting with them they’re not really mentioned. The show tries to follow too many of the minor characters making everything chaotic and to be frank; a jumbled mess.
Well put Karly! Haters need to read the books.
Yay for Christina Moore. She’s brilliant & hot.
I understand a lot of people are fans of the books, but the show has to be able to stand on its own and be judged on its own merits. And like Janet posted, sometimes what works in a book does not go over as well in another medium. Consider that before you slam someone for their opinion.
I agree with Janet. I miss season 1. It was so much better. They keep adding all these arcs that really just suck. Like Maryann? That was awful. They dragged out her character when she was really only a freaking page in the whole book. And Russell Edgington. Ugh. They aren’t following the book much anymore at all. Sookie is finding out large revelations in season 3 that she doesn’t know until much later and after much character development. And where is the Eric & Sookie arc? Epic fail. I think they are just going for shock value now, and it is really disappointing.
I agree on some points here, I wish they would stick a little more closely to the books…but at the same time, what works in the written medium will not always translate to the screen very well. I do miss the Sookie/Eric thing and hope they get into that soon. That is a BIG part of her in the future and I will be very sad if they never go there.
Have you read any of the books or shorts from the Sookie Stackhouse series!!! Trust me you’ll meet a whole new world dude. Maybe read the books before you start putting the show down.
Yeah the books are awesome.
That’s all.
The books are atrociously-written. The more the show strays from them, the better. That being said, last season was a mess with far too many plotlines, all badly developed. Season 1 struck the perfect balance.
Agree 100%
The series is “based” on the books not a dramatization of literature. I think Alan Ball is a genius. As a fan of all the books and the series, I can say that the writers are doing a great job of keeping with the theme of the books while not being so predictable that fans of the books have nothing to look forward to. As for the characters, remember Lafeyette died at the end of the first book but has become an important (and fabulous) character in the series. I think if you expect the series to follow the books to a tee or expect the series to forgo the characters and craziness of the book you set yourself up for disappointment. I say let each medium be what it is and just enjoy the rollercoaster ride!
As an English teacher I usually favour the written word but in this instance I did not. The book were fun but I found them fluffy and repetitive (i.e. the guilt surrounding the death of Debbie Pelt – it was self defense, get over it Sookie). I love that in the TV series they really flesh out some of the minor characters such as Lafeyette and Jason. I absolutely love what they have done with Jason’s character.
I’m a huge fan of the books. I totally agree with Annie. The show seems to always focus on the shock factor. The books are way better. I do enjoy the fact that the show strays a bit just because I can’t get bored watching. But sometimes they stray way too far! I HATED the Maryann character. She was NOT that important in the series. It was crazy! And they do try to follow all these sub-plots too much. I for one hate Tara’s character and get sick of her.
Neil Hopkins as Claude!!! Inspired, I love it…now if only they would cast his wife, Saba Homayoon. She would have been great as Sophie-Ann.
Admittedly, the books are awesome but its great to watch it all and put face’s to the characters. Hope it doesn’t stray too far from the book though as I am so looking forward to meeting sookie’s amazing tiger!
I agree that there were too many plotlines…but the addition of new characters are not the problem. Recurring means a small part, maybe a scene or two in a few episodes, thats it. The problem is they need to focus on the most interesting storylines. Where they went wrong was spending too much time on Jason and other characters that didnt tie in with the other more interesting storylines, mostly having to do with the vampires. As long as they tie it together, the addtion of new characters wont be a problem. All these characters are in the books, and the fist season just like the following seasons reflected the characters in the books at that time. Of course new characters are going to be added as the story expands. Season 1 was my least favorite of the three. It didn’t have enough going on. And I thought Russell Edgington was one of the best things about season 3.
Hello,my name tiffamy tallyn i love your show never miss it but i live in alabama can tell me where there is a strore that sells true blood
If someone has a complaint about the TV series, telling them to “just read the books” is pretty darn lame. Indeed, the book series is entirely irrelevant in regard to the TV series needing to stand on its own and *work* *on* *television*.
The day that TV series viewers need to read the book in order to appreciate it, they should just cancel the show.
I think personally your all of the mark its a very entertaining funny series i dont care if its by the book or not, it does what its meant to do and that is entertain.
If you dont like it dont watch it, pretty simple really they dont need critics in my opinion as the popularity of the show speaks for itself.
Keep up the fangtastic work guys cant wait for season 4 .
I read all the books in 4 weeks
Couldn’t wait to see what happened next. I hope they put Quinn in there somewhere between Bill and Eric.
Yeah Christina Moore- RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN FROM HAWTHORNE- what a huge waste of time -
that old , broken show doesn’t have a chance -
