EXCLUSIVE: Scottish actress Laura Fraser has landed a lead role on Showtime’s drama pilot Homeland. Additionally, In Treatment standout Dane DeHaan has joined HBO’s vampire drama True Blood as a recurring, while Rebecca Wisocky has been cast for a key guest spot in the fourth season premiere.
Homeland, from 24 executive producers Howard Gordon and Alex Gansa, centers on Marine Sergeany Scott Brody, who returns home eight years after going missing in Iraq, and Carrie Anderson (Claire Danes), a driven CIA officer who suspects he might be plotting an attack on America. Fraser (A Knight’s Tale) will play Jessica Brody, Scott Brody’s smart, strong wife. Production on the pilot, whose cast also includes Mandy Patinkin, is slated to begin Jan. 10 in Charlotte, N.C.

On True Blood, DeHaan will play Timbo, one of the teens Jason (Ryan Kwanten) takes care of in Hotshot. The part extends DeHaan’s relationship with HBO. He plays Jesse on the current season of the network’s drama In Treatment. Wisocky (90210) will play Queen Mab, who is described as an elegant beauty who presides over a fantasy land and also has a temper. Wisocky will next be seen in Atlas Shrugged.

I religiously turned into DeHaan’s segments of In Treatment and I enjoyed his performance throughout. Looking forward to seeing more of him on the True Blood.
Does True Blood really need more actors in its cast?
I think it’s getting ridiculous now.You can’t add characters to an already huge cast without getting rid of anyone.I actually looked up the cast and here are the stats.
19 Current lead characters
17 Current supporting/recurring characters
3 New lead characters
9 New supporting/recurring characters
How does a series with only 12 episodes per season have over 48 characters?
I was thinking the same…too much characters for only 12 episodes. Each season come new and new faces and stay in the cast. (only for the last season they are over 10) And they are too different to be gathered together sometime…witches, fairies, werewolves, were-other things, shifters, and of course vampires.
All combined with eventual Eric’s amnesia for at least few episodes, Jason’s new people to take care of, Sookie in fairyland, Sam’s demons, La La’s visions, Alrlene’s baby…there must be a story especially for Bill…and for Alcide…Russell and Debbie’s comeback…too much stuff for only 12 episodes.
Maybe somebody must go crazy and kill most of the characters…
LOL! They must have a THOUSAND by now! If not, I’m sure they’ll keep casting!
Its getting a jump-the-shark vibe…
Laura Fraser? Weren’t there any actors available?
Is that you Tennant?
Laura Fraser will be Great…. She’s effing brilliant.
Laura Fraser? I can see why struggling American actors get so angry.
Homeland seems to be a mix of 24 and the Manchurian Candidate.
Dane will be add ‘new blood’ (he appears to be one of the freshest, most versatile new actors around) to this show and give me a reason to watch it after it began wandering…
